TIM WAKEFIELD ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
February 17, 2012 – Tim Wakefield, known for his unpredictable and often uncatchable knuckleballs, will announce his retirement tonight after 19 Major League seasons, including 17 with the Red Sox.
Wakefield will make his announcement at 5 p.m. ET today on the field at JetBlue Park, the club's new Spring Training facility in Fort Myers, FL. The press conference will be carried live on redsox.com.
Wakefield won 10 or more games 11 times, and he helped guide the Red Sox to eight playoff appearances. He was a member of Boston's World Series championship teams in 2004 and '07.

Wakefield's Video Highlights
Wakefield finished his career with 200 victories and a 4.41 ERA. He made his lone All-Star appearance at the age of 42 in 2009.
