Tim Hardaway Jr. signs $71 million offer sheet with Knicks

The NBA offseason is treating Tim Hardaway Jr. nicely.


Hardaway Jr. signed a four-year, $71 million offer sheet with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley and Adrian Wojnarowski.


Hardaway Jr. was a first-round pick of the Knicks in 2013 and spent his first two seasons with them. He was then traded to the Atlanta Hawks, for whom he played the past two seasons.


Hardaway Jr. is a restricted free agent, which means the Hawks will have a chance to match the deal.


Atlanta has said all along that bringing Hardaway Jr. back was a big priority for them, so don’t be surprised if they match the deal despite the appearance that they are rebuilding after losing Paul Millsap.


The 25-year-old guard averaged 14.5 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting last season.

From what I read, Hawks were thinking more in the range of $45 million. Seems like a huge over payment on the Knicks part, which in turn will take away any flexibility player move wise. Since he left NY, Hardaway seems like he's developing into a decent player, but just feels like an over reach by the Knicks who are desperate.

On the subject of contracts Dirk signed a 1 year deal for 5m. Dude is a class act. Could y'all see Kobe signing a 5m deal to help the team? He has plenty of money and just wants to see the team put money elsewhere to be more successful.

The money isn't coming from nowhere, people are willing to pay big money to go to games. Networks are willing to pay big money to air the games. If it wasn't for that the players wouldn't be getting paid this much. People are willing to pay.

If you want more police, fire, teachers, email your congressmen and tell them to raise taxes to fund more of those jobs. If your state would raise their income tax 5% you will have all the police, fire and good schools you would ever need. It's up to the people if they want to pay more for it or not.
