Turns out this guy is a real douche bag. The funny thing is, as highly as the media talked about him when he was an assistant at Okie St, after he left to coach at Toledo, the OSU players had a different story to tell. Per twitter, they all said he was an asshole and most were very happy to see him go. I know one thing, he's a terrible coach. I don't think I've bet on Illinois one time since he's been there. They are about as erratic as it gets. Problem is, who are they going to get to take his place, Bo Pelini? Illinois isn't exactly a football hotbed right now...Article http://www.dailyillini.com/article/2015/05/former-beckman-players-speak-out-twitter-attacks

He's getting raked over the coals by former players. Sour grapes? Possibly, but he seems like a jackass. Maybe they can go get Will Muschamp....

Illinois could, should be a lot better program. I'm not sure what king of facilities they have, that race is almost too hard to stay up to date on, but there is enough talent in the surrounding area to field a better than average team. They just haven't been able to get a decent coach. I honestly can't believe nobody from the Big Ten tried to land Craig Bohl. He created an FCS monster that was a spitting image of a midwest team: tough, run, control the clock, play defense.

None of that matters. What does matter is his record. He has gone from 2-10 to 4-8 to 6-6 that included two straight wins against Penn State and at Northwestern. They won one Big 10 game in his first two years and three last season. Can they repeat and go to a bowl game for the second year in a row? I do not think so, but if they do, Beckman will be there for a while. In three years he won more games than Fat Charlie.

Bohl would have been great for that program. He may still get his chance if any more of these players come forward or these allegations turn out to be accurate. The fans have to be getting disgruntled. I can't remember last time Illinois had a winning regular season. I guess it would have to be the Forrest Gump year when Zook somehow made it into a BCS game, and then promptly got blown out...

Doesn't matter? Kansas was a program that lost 36 straight games to Nebraska. Football season was just buying time till basketball season. Then Mangino changed that and they won 12 games in one season, ranked as high as #2 and went to an Orange Bowl.... and won. Then they fired him because his team turned on him and started leaking accusations about mistreating players. If it's true, it most certainly matters. The dude has already been barely hung on to his job. They won't hesitate to cut him if this gets much hotter.

I thought for a while that he might end up at Minnesota. The timing just wasn't right.

He was named in a hazing lawsuit today from a former player when he was at Toledo, when it rains it pours.

I know little about Coach Beckman other than he's improved won/loss record each year.

Interesting stat regarding Illinois' last three coaches. The combined record in year one for Ron Turner/Ron Zook/Tim Beckman was only 4-30. Turner and Zook combined to go 5-18 in year two. Beckman has combined for 12 wins during the past 3 seasons (2-4-6).

Guessing anything below 6 wins may land him in trouble and the Fighting Illini searching for another coach.

Six wins is nothing these days. We know that by the number of bowl games they play. I think most fans want more than that. If Beckman can somehow hold on to his job, he has no excuses this year. He's got 14 starters coming back plus his QB. With the access they have to the Chicago area in recruiting, there's really no excuses for this team not doing better...
