Breaking now. Sounds like they had to do a 3-team deal involving the Mariners to get it done.

Sounds like Austin Jackson and Drew Smyly involved.

This is one of the worst trades I've ever seen. The Rays got fleeced.

David Price for these two players, Smyly and Nick Franklin?

Its sad when a contending team does that.

Maybe because they do things like that and play in the worst MLB Venue I've ever been too.

I've been a Tampa Bay Bucs fan, and Tampa Bay fan in general, since 7 years old, but Tampa area residents suck when it comes to being supporting-fans, plain and simple.

The Rays have put up competitive teams for years with no money to work with but Tampa fans still don't appreciate it and won't support the team...

The Rays have done an amazing job through the years.

Every time they have a solid player or players, they have to let him/them go because they can't afford them anymore due to the lack of support.

But somehow they manage to replace those players with more good players.

Every time they managed to do this, it's like they are buying time, thinking that eventually the fans & revenue will come to keep their star players.

But it's not going to happen and in my opinion the owner needs to move on to a city who will appreciate a team...

I've been to 3 ray's game the last few years. The fan support is basically zero. It's embarrassing. The venue is a huge POS. They definitely need to move that franchise to some place like :

1) Las Vegas
2) Indianapolis
3) Louisville
4) San Antonio
5) Charlotte
6) maybe a South Carolina city

I thought Tampa had a legitimate shot. They are 22-7 L29. Pulling it together in a big way. Very disappointed in this trade.

no kidding.. they have been doing well and could win in a division where its still open especially if balt tumbles at all in stretch.. beyond that only 5.5 games out of wild card :ohno:

I am happy for Detroit as I am a fan, but TB made a botched move here.

As long as the Tigers have that bad bullpen, nothing really changes.

But Fox 13 Tampa Bay (@MyFoxTampaBay) earned some flak for this tweet after the Detroit Tigers traded for Tampa Bay Rays left-hander David Price, comparing Detroit to Tampa Bay:

Ouch.
That tweet has since been deleted, with a fun apology. And for what it's worth, Fox 2 Detroit had a pretty good rebuttal:

Later, Fox 13 responded with a conciliatory tone.

One thing that hurts Indianapolis bad....... they don't support their minor league team. Over the last several years..... one of the top teams in their level of compitition. Have made the playoffs and so forth.

Dombrowski is kind of hamstrung by the fact he has to go for it every year because Mr. Illitch could die at any time, and getting him a World Series is top priority in Detroit.

So Fox 2 Detroit is saying...... If you could live your entire life in Detroit... inside the stadium..... you would enjoy it.

Interestingly enough, as we can see, not many choose to venture inside the ballpark in Tampa!
