Tiger Woods won't play in US Open..

Here's another major Tiger Woods won't win. Woods announced today on his website that he won't be playing in this month's U.S. Open, because of injuries to his knee and Achilles tendon. Here's Tiger's explanation, via the website.

"I am extremely disappointed that I won't be playing in the U.S. Open, but it's time for me to listen to my doctors and focus on the future. I was hopeful that I could play, but if I did, I risk further damage to my left leg. My knee and Achilles tendon are not fully healed. I hope to be ready for AT&T National, the next two majors and the rest of the year."

Woods was diagnosed with a mild sprain to his left medial collateral ligament and a mild strain to his left Achilles tendon suffered after hitting an awkward, off-balance shot out of the pine straw at the Masters. He withdrew after nine holes in the first round at The Players Championship.

actually i wanted him to play taylor, their definatly is more of a vibe when he is playing. Just becuase I'm rooting for him not to win a major this year, he still a player I like to watch. Didn't think he was ready to compete yet anyway

Yea, I hear ya completely....I was curious to see where his game would be just like everybody else. US Open just lost its biggest draw......on the other hand and as a tiger fan, I'm glad he isn't playing if he can't win, no reason to mess his head up anymore than it already is

I thought it was tee off for ther Masters and its good. I have the action in Vegas and 4 online sportsbooks

You would have to cancel everyones wagers then wouldn't you ? A guy betting on the Grand Slam would be off the hook basically even after losing with the Masters. I know I saw in the rules in a couple of the shops that you have action once he tees off in the Masters

Man, that would be brutal. I dnt have the bet, but I'd be pissed off as hell if it got cancelled halfway into it.

That's why I will always make my bets in Vegas if I have a choice. Offshores cancels wagers and you're SOL ! Totally unfair unless they stated on the wager that tiger must start all 4 events. If I wager the season win totals and a Superstar players gets injured, I don't get my $$ back. Same deal ! Injuries are part of the chances We take. If Lebron gets injured tonight and I have Heat to win the NBA, does anyone think I will get a refend ?

Tiger's knee is a real problem. There's no getting around it. He shouldn't have ever gone against his doctor's advice and played Sawgrass. I had a feeling that this was going to happen. I told you guys in the big Tiger thread that it's not in his head, it's in his knee. And it's more serious than he was letting on. Tiger has had more injuries on that one leg before the age of 40 than even most football players with leg injuries have in their lifetime. They've had to go in there 4 times to repair damgaes. And the doctors probably don't want to go in there too many more times to surgically repair it. Serious stuff. Especially for a world class athlete.

There wasn't a wager I made offshore that said that he had to play all 4 majors so not worried about it. Most credible offshores still would have to honor a bet like that instead of canceling it, unless they did state he had to play all 4 majors. if they didn't I would hope most would withdraw from that shop

I can't get over this. The fact of the matter is he is having so much trouble with this injury is just something else.
