sometimes ya get a break. kings down 1-0 then 3-1 and score the last 3 to win 4-3 and keep this streak alive.

as for thursday (line from olympic):

Atlanta +180 (over NYR)

let me see here. i get the better team in EVERY category - and i get almost $2 with them, too?! sign me up here!

so far this season the thrashers have shown a LOT of heart after the heatley/snyder accident. they very easy could have folded up shop and lamented the situation. instead they have played inspired hockey under one of the more underrated coaches in bob hartley.

meanwhile the rangers BLOW! they are 0-2 with losses of 5-3 and 5-0 on the road. this is their home opener - but i think that works against them here. the first chance the fans have to get on their team - they will. this team is old, slow and not very talented. i could find 6 bums on skid row who have never skated before in their lives and play them against NYR and i put it at 50/50 the bums win.

one other point that REALLY helps here. this game starts @ 7P (EDT). can you think of anything else going on in NYC around the same time as this game? if you guessed G7 of yankees/bosox - good guess. as we saw wednesday when the florida panthers played in FL at the same time as the marlins - NO ONE came to - or cared about the hockey game. ditto here. even though it is a home opener - expect a LOT of empty seats from people who normally would be at this game - but instead will be home watching the baseball game on tv. i think this really helps put a damper on things - and helps out atlanta and hurts NYR.

i have no idea if this play will hit - or not. all i know is that NYR has NO BUSINESS being a $2 fave over anyone - not even pittsburgh, carolina or anaheim (by season's end - 3 of the worst teams in the NHL - and 4 teams - nyr, too - which i will be betting against EVERY chance i get until i am proven wrong).

Atlanta +180 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too attractive to pass up here - this line should be atlanta +120 - at most. i suggest hitting this ASAP for come game time i'll be stunned if this line is higher - and i fully expect it to go off no higher than about +160/+165.

********************************************

i also like montreal -.5 -145 over pittsburgh. the pens are awwwwwwwwwwwwwful and i will be betting against them all the time as many times as i can.

Winky - Marc Andre Fleury will be stealing some games this year for the Pens until the league plays against him a little. Technically & fundamentally unbelievable, and a good head on his shoulders too. That being said, Caron is in net tonight so your Habs pick looks good. Penguins haven't won there forever, if they get out with a point tonight I will be ecstatic.
