While it's enticing to take the +7 with Pittsburgh in this game, I'd say it's best to take New England -7? Why?

Roger Goodell's circus (e.g., "Deflategate") backfired badly. Goodell is so embarrassed, he won't even attend the game.

Brady (especially) and the rest of the team will take their frustrations out AT HOME in front of a fired up crowd.

Pittsburgh will likely be within 7 for the first half, and then in the 2nd half is where New England will pull away. New England 2nd 1/2 bet is possible as well.

I see a minimum 10 point Patriot victory. 28-17 is the score I'm forecasting.

I don't like capping the first game of the season and try to stay away from the first week of games until players start settling in.

With that said, there was a time last year where everyone thought the sky was falling when Brady had a couple of bad games. They went on to win the super bowl. The pats are not only coming off a super bowl win, but are pretty fired up to have Brady on the field. On top of all this they are at home. They will put up a lot of points. Of course, it's possible that the steelers could come out and upset the pats, but it's very unlikely. I think you would be crazy to take steelers in this game.

For some reason I took Pitt +7 it just seems like too big of a number for a team that has a great passing offense going up against a team that has a pretty lackluster secondary. I just don't buy that NE can stop the Steelers. Also likely taking the over, because of the same reasons and that whole primetime over phenomenon from last year. looking for a 34-31 type of game thats decided on the final drive.

Like most others in week 1 this line is tight. My power rating has the Pats as a 8 point fav. Don't force anything, it's a long season.

For as little as all see until week 2-3....... Won't be surprised if Pitt gets a win.

Head scratcher. Consensus seems to be that Pit minus the best center in the NfL and its top 2 rb's..........and a uncharacteristically weak defense has a very tough road game ahead. Going into great detail why Pit can't win, then turning around and predicting NE (with Brady) will win by 3. Huh?

I think NE wins by 10-14

I'm looking at this the same way I looked at some games last week in college football. From scouring the sports forums I see overwhelming love for Pit tonight both on the spread and +ML. I know consensus #s out there in internet land probably says a lot more action is on NE -7. I don't look at those #s. I see what the sports forums tell me, every 2 out of 3 threads I open on tonight's game the pick is on Pit. For that reason alone, I will be on NE -7. Worked out on 3 games in college last week with this same rationale. Gonna follow it again. It could easily lose and Pit even wins SU. Follow or fade. 3-0 YTD with A&M, Marshall and Ohio State all winning and covering. These were just sports forum fades. I see the same type of love for Pit as +7 dog tonight.

The Steelers have never beaten Tom Brady in NE and have lost three times to him by an average of 20 points.

Oh I don't know about that. As this very poll indicates, it's divided. My perception, everything I've read, almost every thread I open it's people all on the Patriots -7, and that seems like the easier pick. Not sure how accurate odds shark is these days but currently 56% on New England.
