SD PADRES vs. MILWAUKEE BREWERS
PADRES - (ESPN) Carrillo is expected to start Thursday against the Brewers, according to the Associated Press. Spin: The 25-year old has spent most of the year at Double-A, but has made three starts recently for the Padres' Triple-A affiliate, going 0-2 with a 6.19 ERA and a 14:5 K:BB. Obviously, the sample size is small, but Carrillo's overall minor league track record wouldn't suggest great success with the parent club. He is also two years removed from Tommy John surgery.
SD offense has looked good, with the exception of one game, against the Brewers this year. Out of 5 games, Padres have put up: 6, 13, 1, 4, 11. The last time SD faced Parra was last September, which they posted 10 runs.
BREWERS - Parra is 3-0 in his last three starts. However, his ERA is 5.59 with a 1.76 WHIP. All three games going over the total with an average score of 8.3-5. Parra's last four consecutive starts have gone over the game total. Overall, Parra has pitched in 19 games with a 7-8 record and 6.26 ERA.
Brewers have been successful, with the exception of one game, in putting up runs against SD this year as well. In the 5 outtings: 5, 6, 6, 2, 7. The Brewers has not faced Carillo yet as he is making his MLB debut for this season.
Conclusion:
TOTALS: Pitching looks very suspect on both sides. Parra boasting a mid-6 ERA. Also, Carillo mid-6 ERA in the minors. Plus, both teams putting up runs against each other this season. Looks like a high scoring match-up to me.
Parra has a little advantage here as being an experienced MLB pitcher. Also, I do not have much faith in a pitcher who has a 6.19 ERA in the minors. Sounds like the only reason he has been brought up is because of his k:bb ratio. Padres are done for this season, and now is the time of the year they put in young, inexperienced players such as Carillo. Further, Milwaukee's home record is one game below .500; whereas, SD is terrible on the road with a 19-36 record. I feel like the Padres snuck out their two surprise wins in this series and will not sweep the Brewers at home. I'm on the Brewers.
*BREWERS -175 (got it last night)
*BREWERS -1.5
*BREWERS TT OVER
*SD/MIL GAME TOTAL OVER 10
Good luck today!!!
