WEDNESDAY 1-0 +10.00 UNITS

Hear are tonight's selections:

7 Units Pittsburgh U +7

Pittsburgh survived a scare with a 41-38 overtime against Furman after falling behind 31-14 in the third quarter. Pitt quarterback Tyler Palko had a breakout day as he finished 30-of-36 for 380 yards and three touchdowns but the Panthers managed only 99 yards on the ground on 45 carries. Pittsburgh is averaging just 2.54 rushing yards per carry this season. In fact, the Panthers have not looked nearly as good as their 2-1 record indicates as turnovers helped them in a 24-3 opening win against Ohio and some coaching blunders by Nebraska kept that game close. Connecticut routed Army 40-3 as the Husky offense finally got on track after two lackluster performances against Duke and Boston College. Cornell Brockington rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown as he tries to fill the void left by injured running back Terry Caulley. UConn quarterback Dan Orlovsky was 25-of-34 for 288 yards and four touchdowns. This was the kind of firepower that was expected this season, however, it remains to be seen if the Huskies can produce against a decent defense. UConn is 8-1 SU, 3-3-1 ATS its last 9 home games. This is Pittsburgh’s first road contest and the home field along with the rejuvenated Uconn offense will be the difference in this matchup. Look for a lot of passing, too, which could mean a high scoring battle.

Good Luck Tonight,

5 Units Air Force -1 -102

Serious line adjustment from last year's meeting. AFA went into Annapolis as a 14.5 point favorite. Navy parlayed three, 70-plus yard TD drives into a 28-25 upset win! The Middies piled up the yardage against a much better Falcon defense than we've seen thus far in 2004. Toss out the win against UNLV and Air Force has been torched for almost 1,500 yards of offense by Cal, Eastern Washington, and Utah! Now, they must prepare for the strong Navy ground attack, but also a Midshipmen offense that can go overland! Last week, Sr. QB Aaron Polanco threw for an effective 175 yards and a TD in a 29-26 win over Vandy. In a perfect world, Navy would like to throw the ball about a dozen times, but at least they know Polanco can go up top 15 to 18 times a game when needed. We love the play of AFA QB Shaun Carney who has taken control of the Falcon offense. Last week, Carney ran for 3 scores and passed for another against a normally stingy Utah defense. Thursday's game should feature both offenses flying up and down the field. Could be a situation where the last team with the ball wins the game. Look for a lot of points and one or two mistakes deciding the winner!

Good Luck Tonight,

Like the pitt call, must disagree with you on Airforce/Navy. Navy will control the clock and put up a good bit of rushing yards against AF.

best of luck

All Star,
I like your write ups, but how does the conclusion "This is Pittsburgh’s first road contest and the home field along with the rejuvenated Uconn offense will be the difference in this matchup" square with your Pitt pick. Are you saying that UConn is disadvantaged by its offense and home field?

THURSDAY 0-2 -12.80 UNITS

Last night both college football selections did as well as Bush in the debate against his taller opponent. In a CNN non-scientific poll 75 percent said Kerry won, 25 percent tabbed Bush and the remaining five percent of more than 15,000 voters said - "I dunno." I felt Air Force would beat Navy but the Midshipmen improved to 5-0 with a game winning field goal in the final four seconds. My rating number on Connecticut is obviously too low and not self-correcting as fast as it should. Maybe I can speed up the process with an electric cattle prod. Here are the results.

Air Force -1 LOST 21-24

Pittsburgh +7 LOST 17-29

See you all shortly,
