L.A. Angels –1½ +1.11 over ARIZONA
All the Angels did in their last series was beat the hottest team in baseball two out of three and prior to that they played the Dodgers. Now they’ll take a big step down in class and play in a park that will cater to its slew of gap hitters. Also note that in the first heat wave of the summer, the Angels had the day off yesterday while the D-Backs played a marathon 13-inning, 4½-hour game against the Rangers. The Angels are the superior team by far, they’ll come in well-rested and raring to go and to top it off they’ll send their ace to the mound in Jered Weaver. Weaver has been lights out with an ERA of 2.53, one of the best WHIPS in the league at 1.08 and a BAA of .218. He has just three losses in 14 starts, 78 k’s and just 28 walks in 96 frames and when you break it all down, he’s been one of the most dominant starters in the league. Billy Buckner is 0-3 at Chase Field with an ERA of 11.90 and that’s after starting against Houston, San Fran, San Diego and the Dodgers. In 19 innings at home, Buckner has been tagged for 32 hits, seven of them bombs, 26 earned runs and a BAA of .386. This is a complete mismatch and I’m urging everyone to not lay the –1.50 on the Angels straight up. Lay the 1½-runs with the take-back and I’ll see ya at the cashier’s booth about 12:30 AM EST. Play: L.A. Angels –1½ +1.11 (Risking 2 units). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Cincinnati +1.02 over CLEVELAND
Is there anything at all to like about the Indians as the chalk? The Indians have dropped eight of its last nine and all of those games were against the NL. When they get a lead the bullpen blows it and when they fall behind they seldom catch up. Jeremy Sowers and the Indians bullpen have to be one of the least appealing propositions of the year. Sowers dropped to 1-5 this season with a loss to the Cubs on Sunday, allowing six runs in 4.1 innings. He was more walks (21) than strikeouts (18) over 39 innings and he has yet to pitch into the sixth inning of any start yet. There is no doubt we’ll see the Indians pen early in this one, likely to pitch the final four or five frames. Furthermore, the Indians are 23-35 against righties and Aaron Harang is a quality starter. Harang has a 1.62 ERA over his last three starts, he’s 3-1 lifetime vs the Tribe with a 2.24 ERA and this edition of the Indians is the easiest to beat in years. Unlike Sowers, Harang throws strikes and is always pitching ahead in the count. The Reds ran into a hot Blue Jay team but they did score some runs, they took the finale yesterday and they definitely have a great shot to keep it going with this favorable match-up. Play: Cincinnati +1.02 (Risking 2 units).

Heriberto Ruiz +3.10 over Steve Molitor Betcris
Casino Rama, Orillia, Ontario, Canada - TSN<o></o>
Steve Molitor was starting to establish himself at the world level after taking on a slew of second-rate boxers before his last fight against Celestino Caballero. Caballero wasn’t exactly the cream of the crop either but he came into Molitor’s “house” and absolutely dominated from start to finish and actually embarrassed the favored Molitor. Molitor looked stunned, was stunned, he was hurt badly and one has to believe he’s not feeling so confident these days. If Caballero humiliated him, Heriberto Ruiz is very likely to follow suit. Ruiz is a tough opponent with 10 years experience. He’s fought a much better class of fighters than Molitor and you can times that by 10. He’s won six of his last seven fights and that includes an upset win over Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista in Las Vegas. Molitor is not capable of knocking out Ruiz but Ruiz is very capable of knocking out Molitor, as Molitor is not a hard puncher at all. Ruiz is a skilled fighter and an aggressive one and if Molitor’s last fight is any indication of how he handles himself against an aggressive boxer then he’s in big trouble. Regardless of the outcome, the dog here offers up some tremendous value and is a must play at this ludicrous price. Play: Ruiz +3.10 (Risking 2 units). <o></o>
