Oklahoma media is estimating that there will be 10-12,000 empty seats
tom. nt. for the OU-Ok St. game. Ok. St would not sell any individual
tickets for the OU game, OSU backers had to buy season tix to get a
ticket to the OU game. They sold 42,000 season tix and OU gets 5,000
tix so that might lead to 10-12,000 vacant seats, a shortfall of $1 million,
I guess Boone will make up the shortage!!!

I have a tough time believing that will end up being the case, but if it does, it's retarded.

that doesn't sound right. their can't be 10k + empty seats for a game of this potential. Something smells fishy!

I covered this in a previous thread yesterday....this is the only game OSU will not sell ind game tickets. OSU nerver sells more than 40000 season tickets.. those 12,000 would be purchased by OU fans. Its not a way to try to make more money. They have T Boone Pickens.. Its strictly a ploy to keep more OU fans from attending the game.. At least 25% of the fans on sat will be ou. If they sold these tickets it would be closer to 40%..

ok just got back from lincoln, so maybe I am missing something. So OSU thinks that by not selling these tickets, it will help them? Why couldn't OSU officials just go out and find OSU fans and GIVE them tickets since the all mighty Boone will pay everything anyway (oh I guess Boone's hedge fund has lost a few dollars these days). Whole thing sounds wrong to me, if indeeed there are 10-12k empty seats tomorow for this big of a game well that says enough about OSU.

Exactly, OU fans would buy most of the single game tix so Mike Holder,
OSU AD, made this policy last summer. I can remember K-St and KU home
football games in the 80's when it was 50% OU or Nebraska fans in the seats...

Yes and that helped them pay there bills. I think the point is if you have to do this, then you are not ready for prime time.

I agree, I have known Mike Holder for 35 yrs. since he started at OSU as
the golf coach, and I would say he is going to do it his own way...Even
though I used to play against his golf teams every week I will give him
alot of credit for all the success he has had...

Holder was hand selected by Pickins.. If you look closely during Holder's press conferences you will notice strings. Holder is just a puppet thats being controlled by T Boone.... I guess money can buy anything, including an athletic dept.

If you're a stud recruit, why would you consider a school who cannot sell out their biggest game in a decade?

This is exactly what Mike Jarvis did when he took over St Johns basketball. You had to buy season tickets to the UConn @ MSG. He didn't want UConn fans filling up the joint anymore.

Prior that, organizations used to buy up blocks of tickets and charter buses to the game. I don't know if that's the policy today.

Folks, don't listen to this -- not true. There will be no empty seats!!

Yes, you have to buy season tickets to get tickets for this game. (Most schools that don't sell out every game use this ploy to fill up their stadiums for the lesser games.)

HOWEVER, there is a point in time, where, if tickets remain (i.e. they haven't sold out season tix), the tix are offered for sale (individually), starting at the top of the food chain (i.e. with the biggest donors), all the way down the list. In most cases, tickets are purchased by donors, so no tix remain for a public onsale.

Wake up---------------------It's the biggest ballgame going this week and will be sold out.
Besides, it's Home coming week, so I'm sure they will be sold out.

its true theyre telling people the only way you can get a ticket is to buy season tix ( i know about 10 people who have done it personally) OState will get there pants sued off if they decide to release individual tix after so many people have bought season tix just for this game...its pretty rediculous that there is a possibility of ONE empty seat for this game way to go cowboys :ohno:

Thanksgiving week-end sends a lot of people in the other directions (especially students), never-the-less, I have to believe that the Oklahoma fans (alone) would fill up the Stillwater stadium.

This is not that uncommon... Several years ago when the Raiders played actual football and had a rivalry w/the Chargers, the Chargers would not sell single-game tickets for only that game.

They made you buy a package of at least 5 games - to prevent the Raider fans from crowding the place.
