You would think that a down and out pitcher like Blanton going up against one of the more currently overvalued teams in the league should provide some value, but in my opinion, you are going to have to look elsewhere on today’s card for a potentially mis-priced game. The market appears to be pricing in a turnaround for Blanton, and I don’t disagree. The market is biting on the prolonged Cardinals run, finally bidding up their price in games on a daily basis. This daily premium offsets the continually ignored value that Looper provides at home over the years. I don’t like how Looper matches up against the Phillies bats, but I simply would demand a better price to back an underachieving pitcher that has not shown signs of turning things around.
Good luck.
