Thome almost hit below .100 in LIPS last season and has hit below .150 the last three seasons in those spots.
No White Sox player or coach would agree with Prodigy and if you think I am lying then you have not been watching White Sox baseball or reading the papers.
Just a few quotes.
Dye- "We seem to always get lucky, and (Crede) always seems to be up there. He is hands down the best clutch hitter in the game"
Rowand - "Time after time he bails us out. You find me one player in baseball that has done what he has done. You give me (Crede) in those spots and I'll win almost every game."
Guillen - "The Kid (Crede) is great. Who else in the game stinks so bad the rest of the game, and then wins the game late. They always ask me you don't think (Crede) can do it again do you? I say **** yeah he can, and he better."
Konerko - "A lot of teams have late inning specialist in the bullpen, but we are lucky enough to be given a late in specialist at the plate. Whether it is a sacrifice fly or a walk of home run, (Crede) always finds a way to get it done."
Jenks - "He is the best in the business, hands down. You find me another guy that has done what (Crede) has done in the past few years, and I'll change my mind."
Garland - "(Crede) has given me more no decisions then anyone in baseball. I think I owe him a few."
Those are just a few of the quotes from guys on the team. And Thome carried the Phills? Joe Crede hit nearly .400 and had a walk of HR and two walk off hits the September that the White Sox were sliding quickly and almost blew the playoffs. The game against the Indians earlier in the month saw the White Sox with only a two game lead and a tie game in the bottom of the 10th and their lead was in jeopardy of going down to one game. Crede hit a walk off about 420 feet and the White Sox went on to win 19 of there final 24 games including the playoffs. He had, by far, there best post season.
Thome is not a bad player, but no White Sox fan or media figure in Chicago would take Thome up in that situation over Crede. I am sorry but you are off on this one. Not only that but last year there is no way anyone takes THome over Dye. That was not Thome's job last season, and he did not excel in it. Dye and Crede did. Jermaine had 6 HR's and 18 RBI's in LIPS last season and hit .347.
Once again no pitcher would have rather pitched to Thome then Crede. Guys hit in situations and scouts play off that. I have a slight unfair advantage because my best friends brother is a scout for the Tigers so I have read things similar to that on Thome and Crede. If you think I am lying I can try to convince him to give me a scouting report and I'll scan it and post it here.
They do break games down by innings and say which hitters are most dangerous in those spots.
