Preview: Dallas at Minnesota.

When: 8:25 PM ET, Thursday, December 1, 2016
Where: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Dallas Cowboys have not lost since the season opener but cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal as they prepare to visit the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night. Riding a 10-game winning streak and leading the New York Giants by two games in the NFC East, Dallas has a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win over Minnesota and some help.
The Cowboys are trying to navigate through their most rugged stretch of the season, with Thursday's matchup marking their third game in 12 days. “They throw these schedules at you and it’s part of the game,” Dallas cornerback Brandon Carr told reporters. "You get through this one, get through the storm ... you can look back and tell stories about it. It’s something that makes us bond and become closer.” Minnesota, which also will be playing for the third time in 12 days, has been in a spiral since sprinting out to a 5-0 start. The Vikings have dropped five of their last six, including a 16-13 loss at Detroit on Thanksgiving Day to fall one game behind the Lions in the NFC Central.

TV: 8:25 p.m. ET, NBC, NFL Network. LINE: Cowboys -3.5. O/U: 43.5

ABOUT THE COWBOYS (10-1): Dallas owner Jerry Jones is adopting the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy and sees no reason to deviate from the formula of riding the legs of rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, the league's leading rusher with 1,199 yards. "The more we give Ezekiel the ball, then I think the better," Jones said of Elliott, who also has rushed for 11 touchdowns. "We're winning with that. We're wearing them down on defense." Elliott has thrust himself into the MVP conversation, and one of his competitors may be fellow rookie Dak Prescott, who has 18 TD passes against only two interceptions and has posted a passer rating of at least 100 in nine of the last 10 games. Dallas ranks 31st in pass defense (280.4 yards) and has made only four interceptions.

ABOUT THE VIKINGS (6-5): Minnesota cornerback Xavier Rhodes has as many interceptions as the Cowboys and is part of a defense that ranks second in the league with 17.5 points allowed and paces the NFC with a plus-12 turnover differential. With a stagnant running game and an offense that has been limited to 16 points of fewer four times in the last six games, quarterback Sam Bradford is pushing for the coaches to open the playbook and take shots downfield. Bradford (ankle) has been limited in practice this week but hopes to have the services of leading wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who had 40 receptions over a four-game stretch prior to sitting out last week's loss against the Lions with a knee injury. "I think we've got to find a way to create more explosive plays," Bradford acknowledged.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Elliott has rushed for six touchdowns and 400 yards over the last four games.

2. Bradford split a pair of decisions against the Cowboys last season with Philadelphia, throwing for 295 yards and a TD in the last meeting.

3. Dallas will clinch a playoff slot with a victory and either a loss by Washington or a loss or tie by Tampa Bay.

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 13: Quarterbacks.

CyimDSeXUActheB.jpg

Start 'Em

vs.
Start of the Week - Ben Roethlisberger vs. New York Giants

This week's matchup looks bad on paper, as the Giants have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks (12.9 PPG). But here's the stat to consider ... since 2015, Roethlisberger has scored at least 19.7 fantasy points in nine of his last 10 games at Heinz Field. Regardless of the matchup, he's a must-start on his home turf.

vs.
Colin Kaepernick vs. Chicago Bears

Kaepernick, listed as a start 'em last week, went off for over 30 fantasy points in a loss to the Dolphins. He's now scored 19-plus fantasy points in four straight games, and he's scored at least 18 points in five of his six starts. The Bears defense has surrendered 19.1 fantasy points to quarterbacks in their last three contests as well.

vs.
Matt Ryan vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Ryan hasn't been as explosive a fantasy option in recent weeks, but he's been solid on his home field overall. In fact, the veteran has averaged 22.9 points a game in Atlanta. I'd start him against the Chiefs, who have allowed no fewer than 17.4 points to an opposing signal-caller in each of their last six games (22.5 PPG overall).

vs.
Philip Rivers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Rivers has scored 17-plus fantasy points in each of his last three games, and I like him to continue that trend this week against the Buccaneers. Their defense has allowed almost 18 points a game to quarterbacks on the road, and Rivers has scored 17-plus points in nine of his last 13 games in San Diego. That's a solid statistical floor.

vs.
Derek Carr vs. Buffalo Bills

Carr has been solid on his home field against non-AFC West competition this season, averaging 21.3 fantasy points per game (17.2 PPG including the division). His pinky shouldn't be an issue either, and this week's matchup against the Bills makes him a nice option. Buffalo has surrendered 20.9 fantasy points to quarterbacks since Week 9.

Sleepers:
Tyrod Taylor at Raiders, Alex Smith at Falcons

Sit 'Em

vs.
Sit of the Week - Ryan Tannehill vs. Baltimore Ravens

Tannehill is coming off a monster performance against the 49ers (26.8 points), and he's now scored 19-plus points in two of his last three games. Still, it's tough to trust him with a difficult matchup in Baltimore next on the slate. Their defense has held four of seven visiting quarterbacks to fewer than 13 points (12.9 PPG overall).

vs.
Blake Bortles vs. Denver Broncos

There are some things in life you don't mess with ... Texas, the Zohan and the 1985 Chicago Bears defense (to name a few). You also don't mess with the Broncos when it comes to the quarterback matchups, as their defense has allowed just 10 touchdown passes and the fewest fantasy points to the position (12.7 PPG). Bench Bortles this week.

vs.
Andy Dalton vs. Philadelphia Eagles

In his first game of the season without A.J. Green, Dalton posted one of his worst stat lines (12.7 points) of 2016. While this week's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles isn't bad on paper (their defense has been awful on the road), it's hard to trust the Red Rifle at this point in the fantasy season. There's too much risk here, at least for me.

vs.
Trevor Siemian vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Siemian went off against the Chiefs last week, scoring almost 30 fantasy points in an overtime thriller. But if you decide to start him based on that fat stat line, well, you're chasing the points in what is a mediocre matchup in Jacksonville. In their last four home games, the Jaguars have allowed 14 points a game to quarterbacks.

vs.
Jared Goff vs. New England Patriots

Goff looked pretty good in last week's loss to the Saints, throwing three touchdown passes. However, I'd still keep him out of your fantasy lineup outside of the deepest of two-quarterback leagues against the Patriots. While the New England defense isn't great, Bill Belichick will know how to rattle an inexperienced rookie quarterback.

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 13: Running backs.

CyimDSeXUActheB.jpg

Start 'Em

vs.
Start of the Week - Jordan Howard vs. San Francisco 49ers

Howard recorded a solid 12.7 fantasy points in last week's loss to the Titans, and it could have been more had he not dropped a pass deep in the red zone. I'd keep him active for an upcoming matchup against the 49ers, who have allowed the most rushing yards (1,637), the most touchdowns (17) and the most points (27.3 PPG) to runners.

vs.
Spencer Ware vs. Atlanta Falcons

Ware has not met the expectations of owners in recent weeks, as he's averaged a modest 8.4 points over the last three weeks. Still, he's seeing a high snap and touch count and remains a nice option based on a plus matchup in Atlanta. The Falcons have surrendered the third-most fantasy points (22.2 PPG) to running backs this season.

vs.
Doug Martin vs. San Diego Chargers

Martin hasn't had that huge breakout contest since his return from an injured hamstring, but it could happen this week when he faces the Chargers in San Diego. Their defense has struggled against running backs all season long, allowing 15 total touchdowns and the sixth-most fantasy points (20.8 PPG) to the position. Keep Martin active.

vs.
Jeremy Hill vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Listed as a sit 'em last week, Hill rushed for 21 yards and finished with a mere 8.2 fantasy points in a loss to the Ravens. I'd activate him this week, however, as he did dominate backfield touches (18) and has a far better matchup against the Eagles up next. Their defense has allowed an average of 19 points per game to home runners.

vs.
Theo Riddick vs. New Orleans Saints

Fantasy fans in PPR leagues need to have Riddick in their lineups this week, as a positive matchup in New Orleans looms. While the Saints defense has been better against the run in recent weeks, this unit has still allowed the fourth-most receiving yards (577) and three touchdown catches to runners. That's good news for Riddick.

Sleepers:
Rashad Jennings at Steelers, James Starks vs. Texans

Sit 'Em

vs.
Sit of the Week - Rob Kelley vs. Arizona Cardinals

Kelley is difficult to bench due to his featured role in the Washington offense, but this week's matchup in Arizona is anything but favorable. In their last five home games, the Cardinals have allowed an average of just 6.2 fantasy points per game with no rushing scores to opposing running backs. Don't be shocked if Kelley struggles once again.

vs.
Todd Gurley vs. New England Patriots

Gurley's miserable season continued last week, as he posted a mere 50 rushing yards in a loss to the Saints. Next up is a date with the Patriots, who have allowed an average of just 15.6 fantasy points and two touchdowns to opposing running backs on their home field this season. If you have depth at the position, keep Gurley benched.

vs.
Jonathan Stewart vs. Seattle Seahawks

Stewart is coming off a huge performance in Oakland, scoring a pair of touchdowns and 21.6 fantasy points in a loss to the Raiders. So while he should still be in the RB2/flex conversation, don't be surprised if Stewart sees his numbers tumble against the Seahawks. Their defense has allowed an average of 15.8 fantasy points to backs.

vs.
Devontae Booker vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Booker has seen 65 percent of the Broncos backfield snaps in the last three weeks, but he's scored a mere 21.9 combined fantasy points in that time. While his volume makes him a viable flex starter against the Jaguars, keep in mind that Jacksonville has given up an average of just 14.9 fantasy points per contest to visiting running backs.

vs.
Jerick McKinnon vs. Dallas Cowboys

McKinnon led the Vikings backfield in snaps (33) and touches (12) during last week's loss to the Lions, but he's still losing goal-line work (and fantasy points) to Matt Asiata. Furthermore, this week's matchup against the Cowboys isn't good on paper. Their defense has allowed the third-fewest points (14.3 PPG) to running backs this season.

Jay Ajayi at Ravens, Thomas Rawls vs. Panthers

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 13: Wide receivers.

CyimDSeXUActheB.jpg

Start 'Em

vs.
Start of the Week - Tyrell Williams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I'm a huge fan of Williams from a fantasy perspective, and for good reason ... he's scored 12-plus fantasy points in four of his last five games and has scored a touchdown in three straight contests. I like his hot streak to continue this week against the Buccaneers, who have allowed 28-plus fantasy points to wideouts six times in 2016.

vs.
Doug Baldwin vs. Carolina Panthers

Let's face it ... Baldwin and the entire Seattle offense busted for our fantasy teams in last week's loss in Tampa Bay. I'm willing to forgive and forget, and this week's game against the Panthers makes him a solid option. Carolina's defense has given up the sixth-most yards (1,998) and the seventh-most points (25.3 PPG) to receivers.

vs.
Michael Thomas vs. Detroit Lions

Thomas has been quite an impactful rookie for fantasy fans. This was evident again last week with his huge performance against the Rams. I'd keep him in your lineup against the Lions, who have allowed five touchdown catches and an average of 24.9 fantasy points per game to wide receivers on the road. Fans should also start Brandin Cooks.

vs.
DeAndre Hopkins vs. Green Bay Packers

Hopkins has been the biggest bust in fantasy football, but a lot of that has to do with Brock Osweiler's struggles. Regardless, I'd start Nuk based on this week's plus-matchup against the Packers. In the last four weeks, Green Bay's defense has surrendered 28.8 points and seven touchdowns to wideouts. Cross your fingers, fans.

vs.
Julian Edelman vs. Los Angeles Rams

Edelman has put up solid PPR totals, ranking first in catches (16) among wide receivers over the last two weeks. He also ranks sixth in PPR points at the position in that time, and a matchup against the Rams makes him a nice option. In their last two contests, Los Angeles has allowed the fourth-most points to wideouts (32.8 PPG).

Sleepers:
Donte Moncrief at Jets (MNF), Quincy Enunwa vs. Colts (MNF)

Sit 'Em

vs.
Sit of the Week - Allen Robinson vs. Denver Broncos

Robinson, a massive fantasy disappointment, has scored a combined 10.2 points over this last two game. He'll be a tough sell against the Broncos, who have been statistical kryptonite for wide receivers. In fact, Denver has allowed just six touchdowns and the fewest points (14.1 PPG) overall to the position. Sit Robinson where possible.

vs.
Randall Cobb vs. Houston Texans

Cobb had a nice hot stretch for fantasy owners earlier in the season, but he's fallen backwards in the stat sheets in more recent weeks. He'll be hard-pressed to make a major impact against the Texans, who have surrendered just eight touchdown catches and the third-fewest points (18.6 PPG) to wide receivers. Keep Cobb benched.

vs.
DeSean Jackson vs. Arizona Cardinals

Jackson has caught fire over his last two games, scoring a pair of touchdowns to go along with a combined 28.9 fantasy points. While those sort of numbers makes it difficult to bench him, he could hit a statistical roadblock when he faces the Cardinals. This unit has surrendered nine touchdowns to wide receivers on the year.

vs.
Jarvis Landry vs. Baltimore Ravens

Unless you're in a deeper PPR league, it's going to be tough to start Landry with confidence this week. Despite a tremendous matchup against the 49ers last week, the LSU product still mustered a mere 4.7 fantasy points. He's also failed to score double digits in a game since Week 3. There's just too much risk with Landry right now.

vs.
Marvin Jones vs. New Orleans Saints

The downward spiral of Jones' 2016 season continued last week, as he posted just 5.4 fantasy points in a win over the Vikings. This week's matchup in New Orleans looks good on paper, but Jones has been unable to exploit positive matchups since Week 3. Until he shows signs of life, the former Bengal needs to be left on the sidelines.

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 13: Tight ends.

CyimDSeXUActheB.jpg

Start 'Em

vs.
Start of the Week - Jimmy Graham vs. Carolina Panthers

Graham has posted fewer than five fantasy points in two of his last three games, including a 4.7-point stinker in last week's loss to the Buccaneers. I'd continue to roll with the veteran, however, as a matchup verrsus Carolina should be good for what ails him. The Panthers have allowed the third-most points (11.1 PPG) to tight ends.

vs.
Kyle Rudolph vs. Dallas Cowboys

It's the holiday season, so of course Rudolph needs to be in your starting lineup! The veteran out of Notre Dame saw 10 targets in last week's loss to the Lions, posting nine catches for 64 yards. Next up is a date with the Cowboys, who have given up an average of more than nine fantasy points a game to tight ends. Ride Rudolph's sleigh.

vs.
Eric Ebron vs. New Orleans Saints

Ebron was held without a single catch in last week's win over the Vikings, but don't let that keep you from starting him against the Saints. While their defense has looked better in recent weeks, it's still been a bit vulnerable to tight ends. That was evident last week when Lance Kendricks scored a touchdown and 11.1 points against them.

vs.
C.J. Fiedorowicz vs. Green Bay Packers

You might not know it, but Fiedorowicz is the fourth-most targeted tight end in the league since Week 10. So while his numbers have been inconsistent all season, he is seeing targets on a regular basis. He's a worthwhile option against the Packers, who have given up an average of more than 11 points per game to the position since Week 9.

vs.
Zach Ertz vs. Cincinnati Bengals

It's right around this time of the season that Ertz starts to heat up in the stat sheets, and an upcoming matchup against the Bengals makes him well worth a look. Cincinnati has surrendered the third-most yards (760) and the fourth-most fantasy points (10.2 PPG) to opposing tight ends, so look for Ertz to make an impact this weekend.

Sleepers:
Cameron Brate at Chargers, Coby Fleener vs. Lions

Sit 'Em

vs.
Sit of the Week - Dennis Pitta vs. Miami Dolphins

One of the most targeted tight ends in fantasy football earlier this season, Pitta has seen his opportunities decline in recent weeks. He's also been unable to exploit good matchups on a regular basis, so the fact that he's facing one this week against the Dolphins means little. Pitta isn't a great option, even in PPR formats, at this point.

vs.
Jason Witten vs. Minnesota Vikings

Witten has failed to post more than six fantasy points in three consecutive games, and this week's Thursday night matchup in Minnesota doesn't bode well for a reversal of his fortunes. While their defense has surrendered 673 yards to the position, it has also held tight ends to a meager two touchdown catches. Beware Witten.

vs.
Jack Doyle vs. New York Jets

Remember when Doyle was a thing in fantasy football? Well, he's seen four targets in his last two games and has now failed to score a touchdown in every game since Week 7. If that weren't enough to keep him on the sidelines, consider a matchup against a Jets defense that's surrendered only three touchdowns to tight ends.

vs.
Lance Kendricks vs. New England Patriots

Kendricks, listed as a sleeper last week, went off for 11.1 fantasy points in a loss to the Saints. I wouldn't chase the points this week, however, as an upcoming matchup against the Patriots appears much more difficult. New England has surrendered just two touchdowns and the sixth-fewest points (6.2 PPG) to tight ends this season.

vs.
Jared Cook vs. Houston Texans

Cook has the skills to be a viable fantasy starter, but he's never been able to put together a consistent stretch of production in the stat sheets. That's been the case in his first year in Green Bay, and this week's game against Houston isn't favorable. Their defense has surrendered the fifth-fewest points (5.3 PPG) to tight ends.

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 13: Defenses.

CyimDSeXUActheB.jpg

Start 'Em

vs.
Start of the Week - Denver Broncos vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Broncos defense has scored a combined 17 fantasy points over the last four weeks, which ranks tied for 16th at the position. Not good. Still, I'd stick with this unit ahead of this weekend's matchup against the Jaguars. The opposition's defense has averaged 10.4 fantasy points per game against Jacksonville, which is most in the NFL.

vs.
New England Patriots vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Patriots defense has been a massive disappointment in recent weeks, but an upcoming matchup against Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams is difficult to ignore. Since 2001, rookie quarterbacks playing at Foxboro have averaged 201.9 passing yards and a 51.7 passer rating with just four touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

vs.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins

Over the last four weeks, the Ravens rank an impressive sixth in fantasy points (37) among defenses. I like this trend to continue against the Dolphins, who have a banged-up offensive line and a quarterback in Ryan Tannehill who can be prone to turnovers. Don't be surprised if Baltimore has eight-plus fantasy points this week.

vs.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Eagles defense is in a bit of a statistical rut, scoring a combined 13 fantasy points in their last four games. However, I'd still roll with them against a Bengals offense that's without it's best threat in A.J. Green. Also, the opposition's defense has averaged almost nine fantasy points per contest against them since Week 9.

Sleepers:
Chargers defense vs. Buccaneers, Packers defense vs. Texans

Sit 'Em

vs.
Sit of the Week - Minnesota Vikings vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Vikings have the highest-scoring defense in fantasy football, but almost 70 percent of their total points came in their first five games. Since then, this unit has been mediocre in fantasy land. Couple that with a matchup against the Cowboys, who have surrendered the fewest points (1.5 PPG) to opposing defenses this year.

vs.
New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Giants defense has put up an average of more than 10 fantasy points per game over the last four weeks, but don't let that fool you ... 23 of their 42 points came in one game. Next on the schedule is a date with the Steelers, who turn into an absolute offensive juggernaut on their home field. Avoid New York's defense this weekend.

vs.
Houston Texans vs. Green Bay Packers

The Texans defense has not been a great fantasy option for most of the season, scoring five or fewer points in six of their last seven games. That negative trend should continue ahead of a road matchup in Green Bay and the red-hot Aaron Rodgers. Opposing defenses have averaged just three points against them since Week 11.

vs.
Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Panthers have scored eight or more fantasy points in three of their last five games, including 10-plus points twice, but this week's matchup in Seattle makes this a unit to avoid. Over their last four games in the Great Northwest, defenses have scored a combined seven fantasy points against Russell Wilson and crew.

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 13: Kickers.

CyimDSeXUActheB.jpg

Start 'Em

vs.
Start of the Week - Adam Vinatieri vs. New York Jets

Vinatieri has been ice cold, scoring a combined 16 fantasy points in his last four games. If he's going to break out of his statistical slide, however, it's going to be this week against the Jets. The Men in Green have been a great matchup for kickers this season, as the position has averaged 10.7 fantasy points per contest against them.

vs.
Brandon McManus vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

McManus is on a nice statistical roll for his owners, scoring no fewer than nine fantasy points in each of his last five games dating back to Week 7. He should continue to find success on the road in Jacksonville, as the Jaguars have surrendered an average of 11 fantasy points a game to kickers over the last four weeks.

vs.
Matt Prater vs. New Orleans Saints

Prater has been a solid option for fantasy fans in recent weeks, scoring no fewer than eight points in each of his last three games and four of his last five overall. He should keep that run alive in New Orleans, where he faces a Saints team that has given up the third-most fantasy points (9.5 PPG) to kickers in the last four weekends.

vs.
Nick Novak vs. Green Bay Packers

Novak isn't lighting the fantasy world on fire, but he hasn't scored fewer than seven fantasy points in a game this season. That's a decent floor for a kicker, and an upcoming matchup against the Packers makes him an even better option. Their defense has surrendered an average of nine fantasy points per game to kickers.

Sleepers:
Josh Lambo vs. Buccaneers, Wil Lutz vs. Lions

Sit 'Em

vs.
Sit of the Week - Graham Gano vs. Seattle Seahawks

Gano is coming off a two-point stinker in last week's loss to the Raiders, and he's now scored five or fewer fantasy points in two of his last three games. If that weren't enough to keep him on the sidelines, then consider this week's matchup against the Seahawks. Since Week 9, only the Bills have surrendered fewer points to kickers.

vs.
Chandler Catanzaro vs. Washington Redskins

Catanzaro has recorded nine or more fantasy points in two of his last three games, but he's hard to trust when the matchup isn't favorable. That's the case this week, as the Cardinals host a Redskins defense that has allowed an average of fewer than seven fantasy points per game to opposing kickers. This is a week to cage this Cat.

vs.
Dustin Hopkins vs. Arizona Cardinals

Hopkins ranks third in fantasy points among kickers this season, so he's a difficult player to sit in most leagues. With that said, do keep in mind that this week's opponent, the Cardinals, have surrendered six or fewer fantasy points to opposing kickers in four of their last five home games. Fans should temper expectations this week.

vs.
Mike Nugent vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Nugent opened the season with double-digit performances in three of his first four games. Since then, he's scored seven or fewer fantasy points in each of his last seven contests. He needs to be on the bench this weekend against the Eagles, who have given up the sixth-fewest fantasy points (6.4 PPG) to opposing kickers this season.

A good sign at Colts practice: Quarterback Andrew Luck (concussion), cornerback Vontae Davis (groin) and safety Clayton Geathers (concussion) are all on the field. No sign of receiver T.Y. Hilton (back) or linebacker Robert Mathis (bicep).

Early look-in at Jets practice: C Nick Mangold (ankle) participated in positional drills. He's trending toward making his return Monday night. S Calvin Pryor (concussion) and DT Steve McLendon (hamstring) weren't spotted at practice. I'd be surprised if they play against the Colts.
