We've all got our personal scales for measurement.

I find that getting paid to mow lawns beats the hell out of sitting at home waiting for my long-suffering wife to bring home the bacon.

I have no way of proving it but I bet I make more sitting home than you make cutting grass. Now if you add in the millions you make with that Amway thingy you do, well maybe you might make a buck or two more.

It’s called living off investments. Now I realize that’s a foreign word to you since you have a hard time paying you bills much less investing.

Don’t worry, you’ll be able retire some day, I guessing right after you take your last breath.

Welfare queen? Fletch, you wish you were as well off as I am.

You are now free to stick your nose into someone else’s business.

PS Does Bartard pay you to stick up for him?

Hey im 30. You make more money then me. Wowsers. Even take out the age, like i give a fuck. At least without a tragedy i will be around in thirty years and ill be a few years short of your current age. You? You will probably be dead in less time. Sleep tight!

===

This Week with Christiane Amanpour marks the passings of pilot Reginald Levy, television host Mitch Miller, medical researcher Dr. Thomas Peebles. In addition, the Pentagon released the names of four service members killed in Afghanistan.
US Marines LCpl Shane R Martin, 23, Spring, TX
US Army SPC Michael L Stansbery, 21, Mount Juliet, TN
US Army SGT Kyle B Stout, 26, Texarkana, TX
USArmy MSG Jared N Van Aalst, 34, Laconia, NH
According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Iraq is 4,732; in Afghanistan, 1,987, of whom 151 are Canadian. Unfortunately, the list of Iraqi civilian casualties has not been updated for two weeks, nor has the daunting task of quantifying Afghan civilian casualties been attempted, however it is clear that those numbers are soaring.

And as an aside to television critic Tom Shales, as a being with empathy and a sense of humanity, I mourn all deaths involved in these wars, as should you. But you know what they say about those who can't be humane: they just smear those who can under the guise of critiquing.
\

Oh, I see. We should mourn ALL deaths, including those of the Taliban and Al Queda. I guess the Jews who celebrated when Hitler died were inhumane, terrible people.

What a beeatch - Nicole and Christine - both of them.

No, you "should" do whatever the hell you want.

For example, you can mourn certain deaths and cheer others. Make it like a sports event. Paint your face, wear the proper team colors etc

Speaking for myself, I mourn the deaths of my fellow countrymen when they are killed working "security work" for in another country.

I also mourn the deaths of people in other countries who are killed by members of invading armies.

This thread is to help anyone mourn (or if so inclined - cheer) the deaths of celebrity icons and the needless deaths of American military.

I'm glad you took time to participate.....More Views = Success

It's all so pointless.

Dave, with all those investments, didn't you get a little pissed at Dubya and the boys in late 2008? I Know that I did and I would guess that my investments are close to as much as yours.

I agree the war in Afghanistan is pointless. But we're still the good guys to anyone who has any semblance of decency.

Be that as it may, can I infer that you, Barman, mourn the deaths of drug enforcement cops killed in the line of duty equally with those innocent civilians who have been victimized by that war?

Yes I took a big hit when the market went south but I don’t have all my eggs in one basic. I bought a fixed rate annuity when I was 40, it started paying me a monthly check when I turned 60 and it will do so till the day I die. My wife also has one that kicked in last year. I have some gold (in hind sight I should have more than I do but I can’t win them all) and one rental property that doesn‘t turn much of a profit but eventually my daughter will get it and she can do whatever she wants with it. I also get that Government welfare check known to some here as Social Security which I frivolously piss away every month on anything I want.

I don’t buy stocks directly because I don’t know jack shit about the process and don’t care to learn. I do have a couple thousand shares in 2 two different Mutual funds and have reinvested all the dividends over the years. Once upon a time those mutual’s tripled in value then they lost a ton of value and now their holding their own. If all I had was the mutuals, I’d be nervous.

PS. I don’t blame Bush, I blame the Democratic controlled Congress for the poor market performance since 2008.
