Hey guys, round 3 of the qualifying matches in the Concacaf region goes today. El Salvador plays Surinam in Surinam this afternoon/night. I have alot of trouble believeing El Salvador can lose this game after watching Surinam play Costa Rica last week here in CR. The final score of that one was 7-0 and it could have easily been 12 or 13 to nothing if not more. Surinam fields a team of players that are not professional by any stretch of the imagination. What we saw last Wednesday night here in CR was a surprise to many as we really did not know what to expect of this team but they are bad, and I mean bad as in BAD. They looked completely lost and had aboslutely no idea what they were doing. Defensively they were horrnendous and well, we really didnt get to see their offense as they never really held on to the ball. In fact even when they were down 5-0 they kept playing with the same excitement and smiles that you only see in an amateur game when you play for fun. They never changed schemes or attempted anythign any different. One guy got red carded and it should have been 2 or 3.
Talking about "should have been", the score could easily have been 12-0 and even more. CR wasted multiple chances to score, easy ones too. El Salvador is not a soccer power whatsoever but they are playing decent, very organized under a very good coach. They know they cannot really screw up if they want to qualify to the next round. In fact when they came down here a couple weeks ago they played well, organized, even dominating the game the last 30 minutes.
The ONLY thing Surinam may have going for them is the fact they're at home, beyond that you're basically looking at 11 guys running around a soccer ball vs an organized soccer team.
Anything can go wrong but I have way too much trouble believing El Salvador loses today.
The line is EL Salvador to win -105, or a pk -185.
