My "friend", who is a complete idiot and wrong about 95% of what he says, was at the Browns game yesterday. After a nice win he called me to talk about the game. I forget how it even came up but I mentioned Johnson jumping into the dawg pound. He claimed that he jumped on the opposite side of the dawg pound, claiming "I was there, I should know". Knowing for an absolute fact that he did indeed jump into the dawg pound I offered him a $100 bet which he took immediatly. I dvr'd a clip from NFL network of Chad Johnson indeed jumping into the dawg pound and offered for him to come over to see the proof. Long story short. I have not been able to get a hold of him. He is ignoring my phone calls and basically refusing to give me my hundy, actually 105 becuause we had a friendly $5 bet about how many times the Browns would be sacked. He said at least 5 times and I said not even close. The final amount was 0 BTW. This is why I will never make a bet with an individual person again, you just get screwed out of your money.

Even Tony Soprano would give him 24 hours to payup.

Maybe he needs to stew for awhile.

Ibetonsports

I have for many years lived by a kind of code that has saved me the grief you are experiencing right now. By grief I mean aggravation and not the kind you of grief you feel when you lose a loved one.

I simply made up my ond day around 35 or so years ago that I do not want my friends money under any circumstances that does not involve earning it. In short I never bet real money with friends, expecially on goofy shit like what end of a stadium a player celebrated on.

Will I buy or sell a car to a friend and pay or get paid - sure I will. will I pick-up an expensive gift for his wife as a favor to him if I am going to be someplace that sells whatever he wants and get paid back exactly what I spent (not a penny more) when I deliver it to him, sure I will. Those things are different than betting on what was Marilyn Monroe's real name for example or who won the Academy Award for best actor in 1962 as another example.

What I won't do is bet a friend $100 that Pearl Harbor Day is December 7th when he swears that it is May 12th. as another example, I just don't want my friend's money. We all can gamble against the house in on way or another and don't need to use our friends as bookmakers, no matter how dense they can be.

I had one friend for many years back in the 70's who would bet on anything, especially United States historical facts, being an amateur historian of WW2 myself we often had discussions that resulted in us having different opinions of what actually happened involving certain historical events. To solve the money problem (my friend insisted on betting money on everything during a discussion if you disagreed with his version of history) I created the "pizza" wager.

We both liked pizza and would often order one or two to be delivered if we were involved in one of our matathon discussions on various subjects, sports trivia also being a popular subject.

At any given time one of us would owe the other several hundred pizzas that became basically monoply money because in the end when it came time to actually pay for any real pizza we just took turns paying.

A wager of one hundred pizzas became a common event, we even used it at bar pool where I also will not try to beat a real friend out of his money.

The only exception to my rule is golf, a game that simply cannot be played, even with friends, without some sort of wager on the outcome of a round. This however usually involves 4 or more friends getting involved is the many various golf wagering games (Nassau's, greenies, sandies, 2 down automatic presses etc., you golfers know what I mean) that it transcends the one on one, friend against friend dumb bet scenario.

FWIW - that friendship lasted a long time until geography and the usual ups and downs of life caused us to lose track of each other. I think at last count I still owe him 7 or 8 hundred pizzas as a result of a drunken and lengthy all night conversation about the Spanish-American War back in 1898.

Most idiots make bets on the presumption that they will win. If they lose they cant stand to pay out. if its a casino or a casino sportsbook or something, they cant get the money back.

when they get the opportunity to stiff, they do. if you didnt know that, now you do.

if you bet knowing you were right, you didnt risk anything anyway. dont expect to see the money, or get upset over it

friends and money don't mix especially if you're the friend with the most money

I had almost the same problem Also back in the late 70's

A Friend and I use to bet on some friendly BS stuff, but for like Dinners,Drinks, Etc.
It always came out to be somewhat even, and we had some fun doing it !

Then, the day came when we started to bet for Money...!! At first a Friendly $10 Bucks, Then $20...No problems..... Until !

You Guessed it, It reached ...$100

I told him a friendly $10 or $20 bucks was good enough, but he wanted to Up the Ante...

Made 3 Bets for $100 for a Total of $300.00....He Loses all 3 , and owes me the Money...I don't hear from him for like 3 weeks and I run into another friend of ours and I say what happened to Mike ??

He says Mike's Not Talking to you ????:icon_conf

I know the guy for 10 Years !!! I never even asked him for the Money !!
Didn't Even Bust his Balls !!
But he wouldn't Talk to me because he Owed me $300 Bucks !

The Guy Just Stopped Talking to me ! and That's Why I Can't Understand People ! and That's Why I WON'T make a Bet with Friends !

the best is playing golf with someone ..... and a par 3 comes up and everyone plays closest to the pin for a few bucks each.

always funny how maybe 1 out of 4 people get out money and pay up. The others pretend they forgot.

you should NEVER have to ask for your money in golf.

In short I never bet real money with friends

This is a good idea if you just want to stay on good terms with everyone, but a bet is a good test of character/friendship. I wouldn't want to be mates with someone who wouldn't pay up. If they pay up I'd just say forget it, but drinks are on them for the night.

I consider you lucky. You have weeded out an acquantance who is not a true friend. I refuse to even talk to people who avoid me when they owe me money. Just consider that it cost you $100 to find out this useful information.

Exactly. If he doesn't get in touch with you soon, just consider it a cheap lesson.

It wasn't a "bet" but I told JMan that I would give him $50 if Barry Bonds hit 756 HR

That was like 3+ years ago ... and both of us had forgotten about it until someone reminded us of it.

I offered to send $50 to JMan ... he didn't want it and said I should have dinner on him.

For a real heart breaker about betting with friends: My wife and I usually bet blow jobs on our differences of opinion of what occurred in some event. I got about 50 blow jobs up on her and now have started having trouble with ED.
