Minnesota ml 1st half (EVEN MONEY) @ Baltimore*
1st half over 17.5 -110
I know the ravens are in the middle of a qb competition and they all have something to prove but SO WHAT! They are in a qb competition because none of them have been playing well enough to separate themselves from the other. As well known as the ravens have been for their defense the vikings are just as good and can be even better. They are coming off 2 consecutive years of holding down the best run defensive in the National Football League. That is a serious accomplishment. The pass defense is a concern and with offseason moves those concerns have been addressed. Jared Allen will bolster the pass rush and Madieu Williams the secondary. Unfortuantely Williams is injured and will miss some time but I dont think that will make a huge difference as the ravens are not a deep threat team anyway.
What will be a huge difference is the injuries the ravens are going through right now. They have a depleted secondary right now, no mason, no heap, and no willis, there 3 primary options. The vikings are set on improving their pass game and tavaris is making his strides in camp and its showing during the games. In his first game vs seattle he completed eight of 11 passes for 118 yards with one touchdown in three series. Now he will play the first half vs this banged up ravens team. As I mentioned before vikings own best run defense. They also happen to own the best run offense. Ravens are playing without their 2 run stoppers Gregg kelly and the other guy. Peterson may not get many carries but chestor taylor can get the job done. Running back Chester Taylor said he is excited to play against his former team Saturday. Taylor said he still has a few friends on the Ravens that he keeps in touch with.
Look for the vikings to continue to get their pass game going with the newly acquried bernard berrion and the young wr core playing vs a bunch of 2nd and 3rd string secondary. Look for tavaris jackson to continue to show his emergence as a qb ready for the next level. Look for the vikings run game to open up the offense vs a hurt ravens defensive line. Look for Troy Smith to take his shots in hopes of showing the coach he can be the starter.
I think both offensive starters will get the most out of their minutes so the first half over should be good. And the vikings will have more talent on the field to get the cover as well.
