The Upper Midwest was a great place to grow up during that time. You could ride your bike all around town. You knew everyone who lived there. Good family values. Sports teams to cheer for and a good education system. Not to mention a good work ethic.
Holidays are special times in small towns like that. Special events and celebrations made those days seem almost magical. During the summer most towns had a summer celebration that most of the town would attend.
Ottosen, Ottumwa, Fairfield, Soiux City, Burlington, Waterloo, Dennison, Pella, Davenport....what's the difference? (by the way, I have been to all these cities)
