I'm not enough of a economist to know whether it will work or not, but if it does, I will be very happy.

I think by the number of rat wangers on here bitching about it that is will probably work. They have proved that they are clueless on how to run the country.

Gird your loins: The Senate thieves rush to pass trillion-dollar porkulus
By Michelle Malkin • February 7, 2009 11:50 AM
http://michellemalkin.com/
Here’s where things stand. The Senate will be in session today from about noon to 3:00pm Eastern. Members will speak, but there won’t be any roll call votes. Cloture will reportedly be filed on the Cave-In/”Compromise” amendment from Sens. Collins and Nelson. The cloture vote (to end debate) on the amendment is scheduled for Monday at 5:30pm Eastern. GOP minority leader Mitch McConnell’s office tells us that “if cloture is invoked on the amendment post cloture time will run until noon on Tuesday. At noon on Tuesday the bill will be subject to another 60 vote hurdle by either waiving a budget point of order or achieving 60 votes on final passage.”
They’re taking Sunday off.
[Note: Demand the Congress show us the bill when you call!!!]
Question: Who has seen the Collins/Nelson cave-in amendment? Where is it? When can we, the taxpayers, see it? SHOW US THE BILL.
Here’s the list of Friday’s Roll Call Votes. Of note: Sen. Vitter’s amendment to ban ACORN funding failed 45-51. More:
· Coburn #176 (no bid contracts) passed 97-0
· Coburn #309 (wasteful spending) passed 73-24
· Graham/Conrad #501 (foreclosure prevention) failed 39-57
· Grassley #297 (FMAP) failed 47-49
· Cantwell #274 (energy tax incentives) motion to waive budget act passed 80-16
· Vitter #107 (no $ for ACORN) failed 45-51
· Bunning #531 (capitol loss) failed 41-55
· Thune #538 (tax rebate) motion to waive the budget act failed 35-61

<snip>
I ask again: Where is the cave-in amendment? When does the tax-paying public that will fund this Generational Theft Act get to see it? SHOW US THE BILL.
Thanks to all of you who have melted the phones to stop passage of this Mt. Kilimanjaro-sized, gold-plated pile of crapola. The voicemail and e-mail boxes of the U.S. Senate are completely filled. You can find local district phone and contact information for every U.S. senator here. Don’t stop.

This economic recovery plan is nothing but the government creating a phony economy. It's a facade and all of the benefits the government is saying it will bring will be temporary and will eventually evaporate. Japan did this for 15 years before realizing it just doesn't work.

A bill that may or may not create 3 million jobs. Great, best case scenario of 3 million jobs. DTFM (do the fuckin math) Divide the final total which looks like 780,000,000,000 up to 900,000,000,000 by the amt of jobs they HOPE to create 3,000,000 and that is the number it will cost you and I per job. Still think this is a good package deal for America?

It may or may not create 3 million temporary positions that will all go away when the stimulus money to pay them runs out. Then it's 3 million people who will be right back on unemployment. It's a total sham, a completely phony economy. It cannot work, and I'm actually thinking I might be happy to see it pass because it could lock up the 2012 election for the Repubs.

It is not only new jobs created, its current jobs saved and over a period of several years.

To do the math you need to get all the factors in your equation.

Keeping people working because they need to be paid and not because a job needs to get done is going to fail and fail miserably.

A lot of the technology boom was given flight by federal funds in the space program.

New projects started with govt funding can create new industries.

But that has nothing to do with "current jobs saved" now does it?

yeah, and when the money we borrow to buy the materials and pay the people to fix the crumbling infastructure runs out, there will be 10,000 half finished projects and the workers will be back on unemployment waiting for another round of phony economic stimulus to bailout the bailout the bailout. It doesn't work.

You may need to look in the mirror if you need to see a negative fatalist.

Oooh boy ...we got Tang out of the space program.

Most everything else we would have gotten anyway...and in fact we'd get it much faster with the government out of the way.

NASA is just the Post Office going to the moon.

I'd rather be a negative fatalist who can see where this stimulus is going to take us than a feeble minded scatterbrain who can barely stay on topic from one post to the next.

A lot of the money is going to be spent on a 100 foot high wall which runs the full length of southern texas.
