Hate to say it, but the Dems will pounce on this, and rightfully so.....

Meeting Was Not First for Cheney, Edwards
Vice President Dick Cheney, Sen. John Edwards Met Twice Before Debate, Contrary to Cheney's Statement

The Associated Press

CLEVELAND Oct. 6, 2004 — Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday night that the debate with Democratic Sen. John Edwards marked the first time they had met. In fact, the two had met at least three times previously.

Cheney made the remark while accusing Edwards of frequent absences from Senate votes.

what an odd type of spin to have come out. I could only guess Cheney had made the comments in an attempt to belittle Edwards, but if this report is true it just makes him look like a fool.

But let's be real, were talking about a debate with minimal impact so any type of spin created by internet media sources could'nt matter less. If this airs all over the news on cable, obviously It may have a type of impact on some key voters in favor of the democratic ticket.

IMO, it truly is close to all for not. but your guy trying to be in the know as much as possible either starts thinking differently or confirms what he/she already knew.

Subtitle of headline says they met twice before, body of article says they met three times before.

Doesn't matter, anyway ... Cheney will just shrug it off saying he didn't recognise Edwards or Edwards was simply unforgettable.

according to reports, they met 3 times, but not in the Senate. If Cheney would've simply said, "i've seen you 3 times, but never during a Senate session.", then, he'd been accurate. But, saying they never met, it really destroys his credibility amomg the 90% of America that doesn't automatically say "Haliburton", when someone mentions Cheney.

Maybe it means that Edwards is such a forgettable creature that Cheney doesn't remember any photo-ops with him.

How could you forget anybody who is the spitting image of Eric Bischoff. All he needs to do is dye his hair black and they'd be identical twins.

So who's Eric Bischoff...gay porn star?

Never mind; did a yahoo search. Eric does look like he could guest star on Will and Grace. Those two are in the 'seperated at birth' catagory

I guess it depends on what met means?
Ok now you are just plain being a hypocrite. You accuse everyone who isn't a fellow Fascist of twisting words, and behold this is exactly what you are doing.:finger:
So, to dodge the truth you engage in a meaningless semantical argument.

He lied, boldfaced and with malice. Live with it.

Cheney's "First Time"
Cheney claimed Edwards has such a poor attendance record in the Senate that he was just meeting Edwards for the first time during the debate, even though Cheney visits the Senate every Tuesday. But the Kerry-Edwards campaign quickly documented at least two instances in which Cheney had met Edwards previously. Edwards escorted Elizabeth Dole when she was sworn in as North Carolina's other senator on January 8, 2003, according to Gannet News Service. Cheney administered the oath.
Cheney also was present with Edwards at a National Prayer Breakfast on Feb. 1, 2001, when a transcript shows Cheney acknowledged Edwards among those at the gathering:
Cheney: (Feb. 1, 2001): Thank you. Thank you very much. Congressman Watts, Senator Edwards, friends from across America and distinguished visitors to our country from all over the world, Lynne and I are honored to be with you all this morning.
