Hello,
Thanks for your response, i want to buy your item for my nephew who traveled to West Africa to spend sometime with his parents, i will like it to be delivered to him because I am currently out of town. I will be adding an extra $120 which will cover shipment fees and payment through paypal. If you have a paypal account, send money request to my paypal email address so that i can make payment as soon as possible and if you dont have,go to paypal website and sign up, its free.
Hope to hear from you soon.

I told her cash only, but at the same time she's saying make the payment request I'll pay you. She doesnt want to see it or anything as well. This is odd.

I gotta ship it to Africa? wtf lol.

Craigslist scam

You just can't be too careful theses days. I'm trying to sell some photography equipment and turned to craig's list. Right off I got a reply from a "Sarah Dotson" at sarahdotson5@hotmail.com wanting to know if it was still available. When I replied that it was she sent me this bull crap story:

"Thanks for your response,i am hoping to buy your item for my nephew who travelled to West Africa to spend sometime with his parents, i will like it to be delivered to him because I am currently out of town for my daughter's wedding.

I will be adding an extra $150 for expenses and shipment fees and i will be making the payment through paypal. If you have a paypal account, send paypal money request to my paypal email address (sarahdotson11@gmail.com) so that i can make payment as soon as possible and if you dont have,go to paypal website and sign up, its free.

Hoping to hear from you soon,
Thanks.
Mrs Sarah"

Anyway, it sounded fishy so I checked around and found this helpful entry about a similar experience by someone else. Here's another report. And another.

Needless to say I replied back to "Sarah Dotson" that I wasn't interested and promptly reported her to Craig's List, Paypal, Hotmail, and Gmail.

Just buyer/seller beware.

I assumed it was a scam to begin with. No way I was just going to send it.

Especially when she stated she didnt even want to look at it.

yes it is a scam. after they send the pmt they cancel it. this is the oldest trick in the book. my buddy has been trying to sell his PS3, and every single offer so far (5) has been someone trying to rip him off. be very careful on craigslist, only sell to someone close by. do not take any other chances. just google it, and you will see how this works

You my freind is a racist. Why would you doubt some one from such a wonderful country? Take a good look in the mirror for even thinking that you might have gotten ripped off from some offer you extra to cover your shipping fees.

I have a better offer for you, anyway.

My late uncle-in-law recently passed away and in his will he left me $7,450,000. However as a resident of Cameroon, I am unable to access the money which is on deposit in a Minneapolis bank.

So all I need from you is your bank account number and a small deposit to demonstrate your sincerity in helping me and I will cut you in on half of the inheritance dough.

And oh yeah, I want the PS3 thrown in the box with your deposit money.

Sincerely

I have 3 legit offers. One guy said he lived close by, could come by check it out and grab it. Left his phone number and talked to him. He wants me to drop it to 250 because of the price drop in August. I told him I wanted to here what some other guys said first.

I intentionally set it at 325 for leverage, because I was fine selling it for 300.

This other guy asks me if im firm at 325. I say no, I'll do 300. Guy says how about 275, thats what I'm currently debating on right now. Thinking maybe counter with 285 or sell for 275.

With this scam they email you a fake confirmation slip.

Like I said, I knew it when she didnt say anything about checking out the system.

Plus I said cash only so I woulldnt have accepted paypal anyways.

Why not just use Ebay?! Select the pay by paypal or credit card only option. Using craigslist is rediculous.

You have the money first, then you ship. Pretty simple. This is what I did when I sold my PS2.
