incredible stat/record, last night Jeff Francoeur was intentionally walked, it was HIS FIRST MAJOR LEAGUE WALK, and it was intentional....

He finally walked after 127 trips to the plate:monsters- and he didn't do it on purpose either!

The guy is a phenom but, he better start taking some pitches

Rather interesting, very unusual. Let that be a lesson him.

Incidentally, J-man, will there be an in-game thread for the football game tonight?

The way I remembered it, the folks who defected to a new website generally never participated in those football in-game threads. Perhaps a selling point for the Rx?

There is some interest for tonight's game, there's a pulse. :hyper:

Shea Hillenbrand was no different when he was in Boston - I haven't checked on his stats after he left here, but one of the reason the Sox traded him was because they were frustrated by the fact that he never took pitches, so they figured his average would eventually drop. The Yanks got sick of Soriano for the same reason.

Francoeur might be ok now, but once he faces pitchers the second time around, HIS AVERAGE WILL DROP 80 to 100 points if he keeps this up.

The ONLY free swinger who is doing well in MLB right now is Vlady Guerrero - you just can't make it at this level if you refuse to take pitches.

I have watched 75% of his at bats so far. To tell you the truth, he does not swing at as many bad pitches as you would think. He does not even compare to what Andrew Jones used to do when he use to swing at every pitch in the dirt. I would like to see the number of walks go up a little, but at least hes being productive.

I think 3 years from now a normal season would be .295 40hr 125rbi 20sb 40assist 40 walks 100 strikeouts.
