so bad for the game. Tough to watch. Not worthy of the defending champs. Glad this rule is getting changed.

If you think this is bad, imagine Rockets/Clippers. Could literally become a Dwight Howard/Deandre Jordan free throw shooting marathon.

OMG didn't even think about that. That would be horrible.

The ironic part is that would be a ridiculously fun matchup to watch if not for that.

There's some validity to the idea that it's part of the game but the NBA is first and foremost in the entertainment business. I would guess your average viewer doesn't enjoy watching Deandre Jordan take 10 consecutive FTs. In that sense, it's bad for business and you're going to see the rule changed whether you like it or not.

Fouling off the ball is the joke and why the rule is getting changed. It isn't a basketball play. It is total bush league nonsense

shaq and other 7 footers have always said it is like a regular person trying to shoot a tennis ball.

Glad it will be changed as it ruins the game.

my goodness you're a fool. Do you even notice that all the poor free throw shooter are 7 footers? You think they all don't practice it? Lmao....do you know how much they practice it everyday?

you should change your handle. It should not have nba in it. You don't know what you're watching or talking about.

Just doing a little research is proving me correct. A player is rewarded financially for scoring more than any other stat....so if it was easy to improve their free throw shooting they would. Other factors are included but hand size is a major factor. When you add that 7 footers like shaq, deandre, Dudley are never called upon to shoot outside of 6 feet. A guy like Dirk is. Additional factors apply but the poor free throw shooters throughout the years all agree that hand size is their biggest detriment

I'm ambivalent about the issue, and that's using the true meaning of the word ambivalent (it means being pulled in two directions on an issue).

I think if you're a pro basketball player getting paid millions to play the game, you should be able to hit a friggen free-throw.

But, I do think it somewhat hurts the beauty/flow of the game.

I also love Popovich's attitude that he doesn't give a fuck what people think, and he's going to do everything he can to win a ballgame. I think he's the best NBA basketball
coach I've seen in my lifetime, and that includes Phil Jackson.

Yeah. Pop is as good as there is. It hurts the game for sure.

I understand the thinking behind the theory of millionaires should be able to make free throws. I just see them at a severe genetic disadvantage in that aspect. It's not like shaq can go to Larry bird and say teach me to shoot better at free throw line. It's like George Constanta said " it's like asking Pavarotti, teach me to sing like you"

If a professional basketball player being paid tens of millions of dollars can't hit a shot that 6th graders all over the country hit regularly, than that's on him. This whole idea of changing the rules because these big black guys can't hit a free throw is insanely stupid.
