The "system" was created when there were 120 teams? Now there are 128, maybe bend the rules a little bit?

i didnt create the initial rules but you can add it to your list and see how it goes. I played UF anyway.

i like this idea in general.... unfortunately i'm grunching so haven't read entire thread.

how has it done the last few years? i see that it did well at start of thread (2008?.... and i think OP knew of it because it had done well) and here at end of thread.

it did pretty good last year from my tally. see the last page of the thread. it was even better if you ignored the double digit faves

I posted the plays initially. There seems to be confusion on BYU/Memphis and Ill/LT. Based on past plays, we still play against LT and Memphis as they are top 60 and an SOS that is worse than their opponent.

the plays this year appear to be fading:

Michigan St
Nebraska
Boise
LaTech
Memphis
Duke
Colorado St
Cincy
PennSt
UCF

i used Sagarin ratings from here

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/

Therefore we play ON

Baylor
USC
Arizona
Illinois
Ariz St
Utah
VT
NC St
BC
BYU

Well this system fell off the band wagon. 3-7 for the year.

Bump

Below is the first post and the system:

I saw this somewhere else, so I am not taking credit for it.
Just thought I would pass it along.

11-1 last season:
Here it is: Of the top 60 Sagarin-rated teams, FADE EVERY team ATS whose strength of schedule rating is 60 or worse unless they are facing a team whose SOS rating is even lower than theirs.

I'm assuming since the thread stopped at 2014...It hit a snag and started losing and that is why it didn't keep going. Anyone been around that can give us the low down on this. Generally dog systems do the best in bowl seaso. You could play all dogs just because they are dogs and most years make money.

Yeah Im not sure if Sagarin changed something or what but there are NO Top 60 teams with a rating lower than 70 let alone 60.

Sagarin's Rating System was 52.9% during the 2017 season going into this weekend's games.

What that means regarding bowl games...I don't know.

This system is something to look at, but not something to go with every game. It had some hot years but also some below .500.

Also the guy who promoted this system, didn't actually follow the stated parameters. His picks were based on his idiosyncratic misinterpretation(s) of the parameters. I'm not sure that's replicable.

Information only. Using an added sos/power number of your own may have value.

Sagarin rating first number, then regular old SOS[strength of schedule] number,

Teams picked are ATS

Texas Tech 47,41 / S Fla 44,102...........TT

Sdst 55,89 / Army 64,104 .................Sdst

App st 76,125 / Toledo 50,77 .............Toledo

Utah 37,54 / Wv 43,79 ......................Utah

Kansas st 34,73 / Ucla 51,19 ..............Ucla

Az 49,80 / Purdue 35,58 .....................Purdue

Texas 28,68 / Missouri 46,81 ...............Tx

Virginia Tech 17,39 / Okst 14,93 ...........Vt

Kentucky 65,43 / Nw 19,72 ..................Kentucky

Louisville 23,74 / Miss st 20,16 .............Miss st

Two 1 point margins too close to call

Fresno 56,82 / Houston 58,83

Iowa 22,8 / Bc 32,9

Last year system went well and 2015 horrible.
