If you are going to buy one this weekend, wait for Black Friday.

Extended warranties are outdated.

This is a gambling site, no? Play the odds. If you go your entire life never buying an extended warranty, you will be money ahead than if you purchase them.

Most electronics today are extremely reliable and easy to replace or repair. Many repairs can be done for close to the price of a warranty. Many of the warranties have terrible coverage and they rely on people not reading the fine print. It is in the companies best interest for you to never make a claim against that warranty and many make it extremely difficult and time consuming to do so. It's PURE PROFIT.

Whatever your choice, make sure it's a Samsung.I bought a 46" Samsung and then a 46" Sony for the bedroom ans you would't believe the difference.

I bought my 32" Samsung 1080p television some eight months ago and I did not regret the purchase. The picture quality in standard definition in which my local cable company only provides is superb and it is even more pleasurable when I watch movies in my blu ray player. Playing Call of Duty on Wii is also very nice. All in all, I am very satisfied with the purchase and have not encountered any problem so far. I was torn between Sony and Samsung initially but in the end, I settled for the latter because of quality and price. It is definitely one of the best LCD TV money can buy.

Funny you mention that Phillips 52".

Originally we bought the Samsung 46" LCD at Sams for $1200. Were happy with it, but it was to small for the room. So we returned it and went with the Phillips 52" for $1200. The 52" Samsung was $1500 and we couldn't tell the difference in the picture so we decided to save the $300.

Couple weeks later we go in and notice the Phillips is down to $1100 so I ask and they say bring in the receipt as long as within 30 days and they will credit the difference. Took care of that, now again this week I'm at Sams and it is $100 cheaper at $1000. Guess I'll have to head over there again and get it adjusted again.

Kinda feel like a cheap bastard doing it until you go buy stuff there and see how much you can actually get with $100.

If you bought the TV within 30 days and the price dropped they will credit you the difference. If charged on credit card $100 goes back on the credit card. If cash $100 cash back. If they didnt you could always return it then buy it cheaper althought it wouldnt be worth the trouble for $100.

I live the Phillips so far. Had the 46" sumsung for a month before a can't tell any difference in the picture.
