West Virginia- West Virgina played 7 Top 50 Defenses going 4-3 in those games. UNC is ranked 62.

West Virginia faced 4 Top 50 Offenses and 9 of 11 opponents have better Offenses statistically than UNC. UNC is ranked 95th, despite averaging 28 points per game.

Unless something changes, WVU will be short a DB and a safety starter, and they are also dinged up on the DL.

Likewise, UNC faced 8 Top 50 Defenses this season, going 6-2 in those games. WVU is ranked 35th.

UNC only faced 2 Top 50 Offenses and went 2-0 against those teams. WVU is ranked 65th in Total Offense, and the rest of UNC opponents were worse than that.

UNC also had a big loss on defense in the NC State game, with a career ending injury to the 2nd leading tackler (122 stops) linebacker Paschal.

The statistical prediction:

UNC is the better team, Had TJ Yates stayed healthy all season, UNC would have an even better record. They proved themselves against good Defense and they beat the only 2 Top 50 Offenses they faced. They also scored 38 and 44 points against 2 Big East teams, Rutgers and UCONN.

There will be an emotional play for White in his last game, however.

I'm gonna sleep on the input and post my play here tomorrow, but the Play is UNC but I am VERY intrigued with the Over as WVU's strength is Pass Defense and it appears that 2 starters will be out, and WVU's strength is the run obviously, and the heart of the UNC defense in Paschal, will be missing in the middle.

Tough to go against White in his final game as a QB. Might look into the over as well.

I'm all over the over. To me, the game is going to go one of two ways:

UNC shows their superiority and runs amok, or it's a close game. I'm envisioning something like 28-21.

Either way ends up with enough points to cover the over at 46.

UNC all day long, program on the rise, that's what you look for in bowl games. plus theirs a huge coaching mismatch. wvu's has taken a shit the last couple of weeks. give me unc in a virtual home game for them all day long...

i dont know why everyone loves the over in this game, clearly a great defensive mind like butch davis with a month to prepare will figure out a way to stop an offense that has struggled all season. wvus defense is also very underrated, they have singlehandedly won 2 or 3 games on their own.

also if you look at the wvu games and look at the games that went over they all BARELY went over, some of which were only by one point and a few of those needed a late td to do the deed. they have 7 unders and 4 overs so far, but wvu could EASILY have had an under every single time this year.

Other things to note: We're not all over the Over, we are debating it.

1st- not saying you are right or wrong. But read the post. Both teams averaged 24-28 PPG playing 7 and 8 of the Top 50 Defenses. UNC's defense does not fall into that category. If they can consistently score points on quality defenses as they have all season, this game will go over. Neither team has had a break against solid defense. They proved they could score on good D and by the end of the season, they should be better at it.

Add the fact that 2 starters are out on the WVU Defensive backfield and the 2nd leading tackler is out for UNC, that makes it more enticing. I also look for WVU to pull out all stops for Pat White's last game.

One more casualty.....WVU's 3rd option @ WR, Brandon Hogan is not playing today. The word is that UNC will stack the box and force Pat White to throw. There is your Over/Under debate.

I just can't get past the fact that UNC was up 17-3 against VaTech when Yates got hurt, and their other losses were while he was working the rust off of being out for 7 games.

I think Yates is a very good QB and he proves that today. UNC stacks the box and WVU doesn't win on Pat White's arm. Injuries inthe WVU D-backfield help Yates get better.

UNC is the play. GL!

Red,

Can Pat White give UNC fits with his ability to run? I'd say yeah, however, I don't think that's going to be enough to win the game by himself. With Butch calling the plays for UNC now, he's turned the program around and it's evident. Give UNC a couple of years and they'll be playing for the ACC Crown. Im with you on UNC today. GL!

Now do you see why Over was a play? I sure wish I had it right now instead of UNC.....I could take a nap right about now!

Red Elephants, sometimes side and total are good enough to play on the same game. Today, your thread almost helped me bet the Over. You made a good case for the Over(We both have NC) Unlike yesterday, I stayed away. I respect your input, that is why I was perplexed by your calling my wagering yesterday bad betting. Many times I have played both. But now, I see your main point. If it was my total of year, why bet anything else? Thanks for the input and good luck crushing the books!!!! ATLSLIM

Exactly, I'm not against side and total......only against side when it is TOY. That wa my only point......even if you had played FAU I would have been against it.

Good luck ATS! That was truly a dominating call last night.

That is why I am all over the over. The skill position players on both teams are greater than the defensive talent on either side. The over has almost been covered in the first half alone.
