Things to do in Orlando?

I'm going to Orlando for a week to visit my lady's family, what is there to do?

Good restaurants, Good Clubs. Tourist attractions. We're not going to Disney or Universal because the boy is too young to appreciate it yet.

So far on my list I have
1. Gator Land

Took the family there for the 1st time last month.

We did they Disney and Universal thing, but the whole family probably enjoyed the trip over to Daytona Beach as much as anything.

The drive was just a little more than an hour long.

We got there on a Tuesday morning and there was hardly anyone there. It was like we had the whole beach to ourselves. The beach was clean, sand was fine, and the water was warm.

Well worth the trip over there if you havent been in my opinion.

i been to Orlando once years ago, just to see a Pantera concert and then went to a late night rave. City is pretty spread out from what i remember. I've always heard that Disney World and Sea World and all those other places, that you basically need to be visiting for 3 or more days to be able to take it all in, or most of it that is.

We're staying with the Mrs family, their about 10 minutes from downtown. An Aunt is going to take care of my boy and we're gonna take the older kids to Universal, so we can ride some coasters.

Good idea, but bol on getting my neighbor Fishhead to come out of hiding

I could likely arrange a friendly drink&dinner with SheBar and Billsfan

You will have a great time..As an expert in the attractions (wife) we have had yearly passes to all the parks on a rotating basis..This year was Universal, last year Sea World, and the year before that Disney..My kids are 6 and 8. Their favorite was Sea World then Universal and finally Disney. I personally hate Disney for the simple reason that it is so freakin crowded. 95 degree heat and a packed park does not make a pleasant time for mom and dad. If you do go to any park I highly HIGHLY suggest get there and be at the doors when the park opens. Go to the most popular rides and attractions first. You will be amazed what you can accomplish from 9am -10am..Once 12 noon rolls around you will see massive crowds moving in. Once you have done the big atrractions you can always decide to leave..You also have to consider afternoon rain so GET YOUR ASS UP EARLY. Don't know how young your littlest one is but height to ride most coasters was 48 and 42". My 8yr daughter loved the coasters at Universal. That is my favorite place by far..

As far as food my favorite place in the area is Taverna Opa if you like greek food. Belly dancers on the tables..kids loved it and so did Dad..Enjoy the trip

Thanks for the reviews, the boy's 11 months so he'll have to wait a couple years. But he'll be in good hands with the family.

I'm up at 6-630 every morning so we'll hit it early for sure.

If your looking to go out without the kids one night than try city walk in universal is basically a long strip of clubs and bars inside universal studios. My favorite is Pat 'o Brians. They have a dueling piano bar. Don't know if you've ever been to one but they are pretty fun.

1. Go to the town of Celebration, preferably for a nice breakfast out on one of the Patio restaurants. Stroll around the city and shops for a few hours. Pretty neat place.
2. Still go to Epcot, put the kid in the stroller. You and the wife can stroll around all the countries trying the different small size wines/beers, etc that each country has as well as the small plate foods. Enjoy doing that with the Mrs each time we go and we are usually lit up by the last country. We will be doing this again in October.
