The GAME has not evolved, it has regressed. Any team that plays solid D and passes at least 3 times in an offensive set has the best chance to win a Cage match, oops, an NBA game. Sure there are better athletes today but its all about the coin. The stars get the calls and stiffs foul out in 14 minutes of action.

There seems to be very little passion because these illiterate 19-23 year olds are making millions and could care less.
Gave up my season tickets 5 years ago and bought college tickets. Much better game imo.

I agree big bad Bill was a very very productive player.

You people need to wake up them were the good days. Now its a joke. The refs give such star treatment to these guys.

That shit started with Jordan.

I think it actually started with Magic ... he was biggest whiner, complainer, and flopper the game has ever seen. Just his big smile and fancy passes made you forget... But Magic received as much star treatment in the mid 80-s as any of the current Superstars get today ...

Good stuff above. Past-present is almost a culture war. Past was more strategy and team leverage and won in international competition, the present more ear buds insular jump shot losing olympic team media oriented show-time circus. I enjoy watching Chris Paul 'speed' the ball but when I think back to old days, I have to agree with the 'white boys' that old school defenses would have taught Mr. Paul different lessons.

Way better game today. Game evolved. Became proven athletes beat dirty hacks over time.
Agree. Players are faster, stronger, more versatile and more athletic than anything back then.

I love 80's basketball. But if you watch one of those games on ESPN classic it's like they are in slow motion.
