Florida and OU are pretty comparable in every respect...Like SoonerBS said, the OU defensive line is stronger..Their LB's probably aren't...OU's secondary might, and I repeat might be better...But, like Florida, a couple players in that group are still unproven. But I think the thing that is going to be overlooked for OU this year is how much better they'll be on offense, thanks to the best O-Line in the country. better more experience skill players, the no huddle offense, and a second year QB who set freshman passing records last season. If things go right, Bradford could turn out to be this year's Teabow. Many may not realize here that Stoops is an old SEC guy who learned from the best coach in America when he was down in Florida. And he recruits exactly like they do in the SEC...He makes sure he recruits a ton of speed, and builds his teams from the inside out, with a big empahsis on the defensive line.
Georgia might have HAD the best team in the country, but when you lose your leading blocker, and arguably the third most valuable player on your offense, with very little expereince behind him, your losing alot of talent..They also lost their best fullback for I think half the season, which was another very important blocker in their scheme. These are the little things that seperate the great from the best. Georgia is going to miss these players this season..Especially with their brutal schedule. The young O-Line was still somewhat of a question mark even before the injury to their best player.
Although we've had a few disagreements on here about LSU, they are still a very strong team. The big question with them will be if they can replace a few of their big playmakers..They lost a bigger than average share of them this year to the NFL. The most important being at QB..Unless they have an inordinate amount of talent or previous expereince coming in, not having a returning QB automatically brings a team down a notch. Especially when everybody around them is improved. They'll probably be at close to full strength by the end of the season...But I think there are going to be a couple hiccups along the way..
As far as having returning players and a team pretty much intact from last season it's Ohio State..They are the most complete team in the country...But the big problem with them is the question of whether they have enough overall talent to compete with these teams above. Including USC in their early regular season game..I can't answer that question until after I see the USC-OSU game.
But if you want to go by the accumulation of 5 star recruits on one team, none of these teams up above compare to USC. The Trojans are by far the most dangerous team in the country year after year when they have their heads screwed on straight..But this has been their problem the last couple of years under Carroll. They have breakdowns during the regular season as bad as OU does in their BCS games. But I'm telling you that personnel-wise their isn't a better accumulation of athletes as USC. If they can ever put it all together and survive the regular season, I don't think they'll get beat in the title game.
