That is by definition not an either or proposition. There is a huge gap between the ability to win enough to support oneself entirely from gambling and an overall loser. There are probably lots of forum readers who can beat low limit poker for $5 or $10 an hour, or can pick sports at a break even amount while profiting from some of the generous bonuses out there.

Making a little money gambling isn't particularly difficult. Making a lot of money gambling is difficult.
