Their Unrealistic Expectations Crushed At Last, Millennials Reject Obama In Droves
Education Editor

A new nationwide poll shows that President Barack Obama’s Svengali-like hold over America’s youth voting cohort may have finally loosened.

The poll, by Harvard’s Institute of Politics, reveals that 18-to-29-year-old Americans are abandoning the Democratic coalition built largely by Obama, National Journal reports. Millennials who participated in the poll and said they will “definitely be voting” in next week’s elections prefer Republican congressional candidates over their Democratic opponents by a margin of 51 percent to 47 percent.

That’s a dramatic about-face compared to recent elections.

In both 2008 and 2012, college students and the rest of America’s youth voting bloc voted enthusiastically and overwhelmingly for President Barack Obama. In 2012, for example, Obama trounced Mitt Romney among young people by a margin of 67 percent to 30 percent in populous and crucial states such as Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio, according to a Tufts University study.

In 2010, the last “off-year” election, the same Harvard poll found that millennials favored Democrats over Republicans by 55 percent to 43 percent.

Within the general millennial population, 18-to-29-year-old Hispanics have turned severely against Obama. Only 49 percent of young Hispanic voters polled favor Obama, according to National Journal.

Just five years ago, the approval percentage for young Hispanics was 81 percent.

Obama’s job approval rating in the 18-to-29-year-old cohort has eroded steadily in 2014, from 47 percent in April to 43 percent this month.

On a host of issues including the economy, foreign policy and the national debt, Obama polls under 40 percent among millennials.

The Democrat’s biggest negative is health care. Almost 60 percent of the young voters polled have a negative view of Obamacare.

Among millennials who plan to vote on Tuesday, the president’s job approval rating stands at 42 percent.

College graduates under 40 years who have student debt have a median net worth of just $8,700. The Washington Post recently advised newly-minted college graduates to give up hope and go live in their parents’ basements.

The author of the study, San Diego State University psychology professor Jean Twenge, suggested that one reason for the higher rates of reported depression could be a tendency to have “unrealistic expectations.”

Twenge is the author of “Generation Me: Why Today’s Young Americans are More Confident, Assertive, Entitled — and More Miserable than Ever Before.”

About 25 percent of all millennials say they definitely plan to vote in the upcoming elections, according to National Journal.

Just like most normal people with age and experience comes an understanding of why conservatism and achievement outlast gimmicky liberalism and its faulted ideology; these now almost 30 somethings have seen the light.

Isnt it ironic the dem party panders heavily to

Poor
Unedumacated
Minorities
Young people
Freeloaders

republican and democrats don't give a shit about poor people. They care about getting re-elected and pandering to big business. Yes, that is a blanket statement but which party actually steps up to the plate and truly does something for the poor? Throwing money at it is just lazy and won't solve a thing.

Hopefully you guys will elect a true leader in 2016 who won't just kick the can down the road for 4 years like Obama has.

Regardless, democrats advocate policies towards helping poor people. I promise you, anyone that you think is a "true leader", I will most likely this is a nutjob loon. Probably some crazy libertarian.

Losing their support does not mean they will vote Republican. That's how bad Repubs have become. Luckily you guys have the degen southern and midwest states to elect some of the worst politicians this country has ever seen.

simply not true.

Well, coming from someone who votes democrat, I completely disagree. If they advocated for what Republicans advocate these days, I would not vote for them. And no, I do not have an Obamaphone, nor do I vote for Democrats because of any handouts. Just another educated moderate who sees how disgraceful the Republican party has become.

The forum troll (and pathological liar) lies again about being a moderate.

If AKFratFraud is a moderate then the Pope is a Muslim.

The politicians themselves might not care, but I do and what they advocate at this time is far better for poor people and the economy, then the Repubs. Not even close. Repubs are advocating some of the most dangerous policies I've seen in my lifetime right now.

The difference, Scott, is dimocraps need to keep a large segment of the populace poor and dependent. Just like a hospital needs patients to survive. That's what the entire dim platform is based on...pretending to care. If everyone who wanted a job had one, there would be no need for social programs or government assistance.

I don't know of any R's who openly root for people to not succeed, then use that for political gain.

ok, I'll bite. Like what?

Eliminating min wage
Reducing public sector employment
Balancing the budget
Repealing Obamacare
Not raising the debt ceiling
Eliminating the Fed
Ending unemployment insurance
Reducing food stamps/welfare

That's a good start. Difference is Reagan, Bush I and II did none of this because they knew this would be horrible for the economy. The new age Repubs don't give a fuck. Their cult like beliefs are scary
