You don't get around much..

Philly fans are passionate and knowledgeable..

Definitely not fair weathered fans...
I don't doubt that they are passionate and knowledgeable....(they are a little too passionate)

That wasn't the question though...

Well, I guess it depends on how you define the term. For example, 30-for-30 just did a profile of Cleveland sports and their level of hard luck and losing. If living in agony is your definition than they are #1!

But, given the level of stupidity exhibited by Philly fans and the fact that city doesn’t do too much winning (Since 1984, only the 2008 Phillies have won a title), then they are a good candidate.

If apathy counts, then Miami is #1

I’d rate Philly as the worst by two lengths over Miami.

Honorable mentions:
Buffalo
San Diego
Atlanta
Phoenix

That snowball at Santa thing is ridiculous. They threw snowballs at him because of the pathetic job of Eagles org. There was supposed to be a Christmas thing at half but instead they recruited a 19 year old fan in a red sweatsuit to jog around the field. Beyond pathetic.

Every fan base cheers when an opposing player of a rival team is hurt. It happens even today. You ever watch a game when lebron gets fouled hard and is down for a minute?

All stadiums should have court. People have been murdered at stadiums in calif and in Chicago a father son thug team attacked a first base coach.

Philly fans have obnoxious jerks but no more than any other fan base.

Thanks. They also gave Lemieux a standing ovation on his return from Hodskins. Do we bring up a paramedic getting beaten to a coma by gang bangers in la? Thugs in LA burning the city after a win or loss? Do we talk about the Arizona ST crowd chanting PLO after steve kerrs dad was murdered in Lebanon?

One thing to keep in mind, I was in Philly in 08 for the Phillies parade, they estimated 2 million people, and we had order.

this just in today in PhiLLy;

BOTTLE-THROWING
Phillies slugger Ryan Howard was irritated and it had nothing to do with his on-field struggles. At the end of Saturday's 6-3 loss to Milwaukee, a fan threw a beer bottle that landed near Howard's feet.

''I've done too much in this town to have that kind of stuff,'' Howard told reporters prior to Sunday's game. ''If you want to yell out ... that's whatever. But when you start throwing stuff, that's when stuff gets personal.''

Police are investigating the matter.

Howard, a three-time All-Star who's been with the Phillies for more than a decade, has not started the last five games, ending Saturday's contest with a pinch-hit groundout to the pitcher. He's batting .151 this season with eight homers and 19 RBIs. He didn't play Sunday.

''That's dangerous,'' Mackanin said after the game. ''We can't have that happen. Of course I'm concerned for my players' safety.''

Most obnoxious, cocky, white trash fan base in the world. Most of them have 4 teeth, 2 in each pocket.

Of late Cubs fans are coming into contention. Just the last few years or so. Most act like this team has already won the WS when really they should be the most humble fans in sports

But make no mistake, nothing is worse than a Kentucky fan. The represent everything that is wrong with the world.

Being from the state, I can't disagree with this.

Atlanta is pretty bad. Baseball teams dominated for many years in half filled ball parks.

I also thought the question meant the fan base who least supports it's home teams.

But apparently they are talking worst fans as in biggest scum bags...

Someone also told me that there have 2 occasions where fans from opposing teams were thrown off the top of the stadium.

Umm wouldn't that lead to death? That's a long way down.

Like I said in a different thread, if the Raiders move to Vegas then some gambler cheering a backdoor cover is probably getting tossed off the upper deck.

the vast majority are bad fan bases! I mean Red Sox fans would be considered at the top of the list, yet watch what happens when they are not winning alot. Heck, look at the Yankees now!
Just as one example, remember Clemens first 20k game vs Seattle? I realize it was a wet night, but hardly anyone there!

I will preface this by saying I am a long time, big time fan of Philadelphia teams. I think most sports franchises would LOVE to have the philly fan base. They may make teams lives miserable when they are losing but they are still fans and still are avid money spenders. Teams like the Heat or LA based franchises financially feel the pain when the teams suck. Hell, even when the Heat are good the stands dont fill up until the 2 qrt.

And like said above, the fans are sports knowledgeable (current and historical) especially compared to alot of other fan bases out there.

I travel for work and have had the "Philly sports fans are shitty" debate countless time. And 9 times out of 10 it is the same 5 arguments that pop up on a quick google search. And 100% of the time those people dont know the real story, they are just regurgitating some one liner they heard or read. Philly is no worse (not even close) than any other sports team out there, its just the national media is lazy and its easy top hop on a story when it happens in philly. These events happen EVERYWHERE. I swear I hear more about some drunk slob making an ass of himself in philly than when an assault or a freakin' murder happens in other cities.
