ok so i guess it wasnt michael that pulled the trigger. thanks for clearing it up.

here is what i dont understand about the Randy situation. He obviously has no family and is part of the system so why not move to DC instead of going up against it everyday?

FL, you have got me thinking about your senerio with the four kids and who they may become. We both agree that Michael will become a kingpin or leader of some sort. Namond will make it out of the ghetto and probably become a cop or something in politics. Now, let me give you my prospective the more I think about it, its kinda too obvious but here goes, Dookie has come from the drug family, he has probably had the worse homelife of any of the boys. So he could very easily fall into that trap, I know at the present time it shows him on the corner slinging for michael, but i'm talking in the future. What do you think about Dookie become Bubs. Now Randy is the kid with the business sense, he was the kid trying to always earn money, he sold candy to the kids, he did the T-shirt and flyers for the mayor. He may very well end up being the next stringer bell. Thats just my 2 cents, but I could be wrong. I know I stated earlier that I see randy ending up getting killed. But the more that I think about it, I have changed my point of view.

Of course it wasn't Michael who shot Bodie, it was obvious, when Chris told Marlo that Mike worked for Bodie and it should be someone who he didn't know and he nodded in agreement.

Also the I watched the final episode again and you guys are right that 4 way street the way they zoomed up on it and just let it sit there for a moment, it showed how all four of the kids have gone different paths.

Agreed. Dookie seems like the more likely candidate of being the next Bubs. Not so sold on Randy being the next Stringer either though.

On the surface it makes sense. Until you look back at the very beginning of the show when we first meet the characters.

Micheal was the quiet student, with concern and love for his little brother. Quiet and somewhat honest. Remember when he refuses marlos money at the beginning of the school week claiming he never wants to owe him anything? He joins a gym seemingly to stay out of trouble and he is the one on the right path to sucess only slinging drugs to buy school supplies and then quiting and refusing to go back even at the behest of his friend Namand.

Then look at Namand, he is the nike wearing bling bling, son of a well known soldier with a strong over bearing mother who is actively pushing him to the street to make his mark as a soldier.

Dookie, whose whole world starts out enveloped by the drug culture cant even seem to get a shower because the water at his house is probably turned off, runs into this caring white teacher that more or less adopts him and makes him into the star pupil in his class and even manages to get him to move up one grade in his class.

Then of course there is randy, always has a scheme of some sort to make money and move up in the world so to speak.

Now lets fast forward to what every one has turned out to be....

Namand the son of a hardcore thug, is adopted by of all people a former police officer, he has actually been let back into his normal class and has become a good student that is destined for a life off the street.

Micheal, the once quiet now is now a hardcore, thug running with the very same people he apparently despised at the begining of the show. He is now trained cold blooded murderer who orchestrated the murder of his own father..(or bugs dad because they never make it clear if that guy is his dad too)

Dookie the bright star has now taken the most suprising turn in his life. turning around to sell drugs on street corners instead of continuing on with his education.

Point is nothing is what it seems. Randy in my opinion has way more similarties between him and bubs, he is personable and talks freely with pretty much every one and can sell them anything including the snitching on who has been tagging walls, to whereabouts of a murder that have put him in the predicament he is in right now. He is willing to do anything to save his hide. Same as bubs. And like bubs, he always has a scheme going. just like bubs. If he is not making money snitching, he is making money carrying off scrap metal while giving spot on estimates for its worth and the profit they will make off this deal.

Dookie on the other hand has not been shown to have any of these qualities. He has not snitched, is not that personable and is definately not the quick thinking entreprenuer. It would be too easy to look at Dookies life style and conclude that he is the future bubs. He was more or less living the life of a bum with no plausible future in sight. I dont think he turns out to be bubs. I really feel that Randy is going to end up this way.
He is on his own while dookie is under the wing of the baddest uprising kingpin on the block. Dookie is more or less a member of a family while Randy is soon to be homeless. I still maintain he will run away after afew more beatings and take to living on the streets. Where he will live off his small time schemes and eventually take on drugs

This actually reminds me of the mayor Carcetti. He is going to turn dirty as hell and i am dying to see the after math. Most people dont want to accept it, but if you look at the trend of the show, it deals with hardcore truths and spits them at you bit by bit. This guy is gonna take a tumble and probably become even worse than Royce. This whole new look of the ambitious mayor is the same ole switcheroo that movie directors like to pull on audiences. They have you pulled in and emotionally tied to one character and then pull back the covers to reveal the monster within. (kinda like Tony Soprano...I have never grown to loathe a tv character more than that guy and the funny thing is that most people actually miss the parts where they show what a monster he is. And in those parts, he doesnt actually kill any one)

Same case here. Every one has their hopes up high that this guy will clean up the city, reduce crime and corruption in high office but that is not going to happen. He has already refused to take money that would improve the schools and the schools are headed for decline. (If anything, look at the conversation his right hand man has with Royce's right hand man at the bar.)

NOthing in this show, is what it seems.

When Marlo, Snoop, and Chris go to Micheal's house after Marlo says he's

giving him the corner he says "and you also get the points on that

shot" I assumed that shot was referring to shooting Bodie

Another thing both of them had in common was that both Avon and Micheal were both boxers at the gym when they were younger. In season 1 the cop went to the old boxing gym and got Avon picture since they did not even know what he looked like...

great insight guys, I wish that I knew all of yall enjoyed the show as much as I do. I tried to start a post in the past about the wire, but it just fizzled out with not much action. I would love to have a thread after each show like this and break down the show. It would be interesting to get everyones view after the show and compare opinions. We should do that when the next season starts.

could always start one for "Rome" when it starts. I watch it every weekend though its most force of habit as i cant break my sunday sports/hbo routine that easily. Its no where near as deep as The wire and it has even more gay intonations than the wire and over board sexual scenes..but i guess it will have to do until the next wire series..
