It has now been reported that BetCris owns a significant piece of Don Best, which explains their constant attacks on SportsOptions.
What is crazy about BetCris’ actions is that not only were we in the line-service business well before they decided to get into bed with Don Best, but I personally had discussions with them last year about our plans and they were very supportive.
But now that they have decided to get into the line-service business, they are acting as if we should fold our tents and go home so they can re-monopolize the industry. Well not only did we start our business well before BetCris decided to get into bed with DB , but we have a significant investment in our company, so why should we be bullied out of our own industry? We have made a commitment to our customers and we plan on living up to it.
From the minute they bought into Don Best, BetCris has attempted to bully other sportsbooks to not do business with SportsOptions. And when I say bully, I am not talking about a friend asking for a favor – they have threatened everything from cancelling transfers to threatening to withhold future business. BetCris even pulled their advertising off theRX, and went as far as to ask other sportsbooks to not do business with theRX, even though they know that SportsOptions and theRX have no involvement.
So you have to wonder why giants like Don Best and BetCris would make such aggressive moves against a startup company. Obviously the want to continue their stranglehold on the outrages prices DB charges. When 2 companies like this get together, price fixing is almost guaranteed. Just think about it – if BetCris plans to use all if its business influences to keep other sportsbooks from doing business with other line-services, Don Best will be able to charge whatever they want and will be held to zero standards.
Since we opened our doors, our Mission Statement has been simple: Deliver the fastest and most accurate information at the best price. We want to be the Pinnacle of the line-service industry.
We have a strong belief that a free market in any industry is best for consumers, which is why we have embraced our competitors. Because of the competition in the line-service industry, customers are getting better information, improved programs and lower prices from all services.
We would obviously prefer not to have conflicts with any other company and we have made multiple attempts and offers to BetCris to try and find a solution, but we have been rebuffed each time.
Regardless of what BetCris and Don Best choose to do, we will continue to fight for a free market in the line-service industry, giving consumers the opportunity to pick the service that best fits their needs, whether it be Don Best, G&J Update, LinesMover or SportsOptions.
