Most cable and satellite TV carriers are telling us that there is no need to worry about the digital TV transition...but they are wrong.
All cable and satellite local channels do not cover all your local digital channels and I learned this the hard way during Hurricane Ike. When I lost power during Ike I had a generator and was only able to plug in a few items. I had recently got a digital converter box and took it out of the box to use.
I get 3 local NBC channels, 2 Local CBS and 3 Local ABC channels....during the Sunday NFL action the games on CBS were shown on the 2nd digital local channel and they had post Ike live news on the main CBS channel. if I didn't have the converter box then I was only able to see the Post-Ike news coverage on direct TV from the main CBS digital channel.....not the 2nd digital channel.... I called Dirctv and asked if they have all the local digital channels and they said no....just the main digital local channels.
