I can't really explain this baseball season. It has been one long and bumpy roller coaster ride.
In the off-season we learned of the sad news that Forum favorite Super Scout had passed on. SS was one of the most respected posters here. Aside for giving us winners on a consistent basis, it seemed like Scout respected his peers more than he respected himself. He was quiet. He never hogged the spotlight that always found him. R.I.P. brother!!
Preseason came and Theerodfather and Dogball were everyones favorites to win this years challenge. Jake Thompson demanded some respect after finishing as the Challenge leader in 2002. Jake went tout, claiming he was in College and couldn't bet big on his super plays, so he had to charge for them. Then Trying 2 Win proclaimed himself the King of Bases. He boldy guaranteed he would be on top of the challenge, looking down at all of us at the break. Bucsfan didnt want to hear anything of that and their feud began. Another talker, MFG comes in with an agenda, claiming he won 32,000 last year in bases.
The month of April came and Bucsfan let his plays do all the talking as he quickly jumped out of the gate in route to dominating the TRK Challenge. T2W started quick too but before he could say anything, he quickly began his slow fade to the bottom. Jake the Tout started off quick as well. Theerodafther couldn't get his act together and quickly vanished. He had some other issues to take care of. MFG was keeping the cellar warm...losing 100's of units per night.
For the months of May and early June, MadCapper made his push and was wearing the crown. Bucsfan couldn't buy a win and was constantly losing about 7 plays per night. Kodiak was doing his thing quietly, but he was falling behind too. Dogball and Jake Thompson were steady names near the top as well.
It took some time but Jake, finally, got back to the top of the heap (controversy was in the air because he never posted his plays) and demanded some respect once again. People complained to TRK that if the point of the Challenge was to help frequents at the forum follow steady cappers and to know who's hot and who's cold, then Jake should have to post his plays in the forum. Jake refused and was eliminated from the challenge. That was all Blacklab needed as he started his vicious assault to the top and took over first place in the months of June and July, while Bucsfan continued his descent towards the bottom 3 of MFG, Kodiak, and the self proclaimed King of Bases, thus giving T2W ammo to start yet another feud. Mr. Booya changed his original guarantee from being on top of the charts to just finishing ahead of Bucsfan. A cowardly act by the Keen of Bazes considering where Bucsfan had come from. Madapper hit a tuff spot and slowly began to fade out of the spotlight and settled into the middle of the pack. A different Kodiak can be seen. Unfortunately, Dogball was banned.
Then all of a sudden in August, Blacklab, an invincible powerhouse the months prior starts his quick, yet painful, downward spiral. On their way passing by steady place holders RX-Maniac and T2W. SSI starts his banishment plays (man he was hot for those few weeks) and quickly gains a huge following. Talks of a SSI - 2Headed Monster merger were in the air. But before they can dot the i's and corss the t's, 2Head starts to plummet. SSI moves furiously up the charts. Then Rubber-room king Raiders enters the mix and quicky makes a name for himself in the baseball forum. Kodiak gets called on his 250 unit plays and is forced to leave for a while, blemishing his image polished from years passed. SSI - our thoughts and prayers are with you. We learn of Jakes banishment from the Rx.
Now its September again and it seems like the season has come around in a full circle. Raiders is still on top, but Bucsfan and MadCapper, the leaders in April and May respectively are making a vigorous push to dethrown Raiders. April frequents, Kbnmn and MasterL have found their way back to the board. T2W has nothing to say. But I guarantee he will finish ahead of MFG.
This should be a real fun stretch run.
Word of advice to everyone.....get on Blacklabs bandwagon come post season. If what we have seen from this baseball season so far has any truth, Blacklab should make his move in his due time....October!!!
