I'm out of horse racing but was this the last race needed to win the Triple Crown?

If so this is huge right? Last winner was in 1977?

like i said in another thread when the cover comes out, the SI athlete of the year will be a horse and rightfully so. did something no one has done in decades, its nothing short of throwing a no hitter in the deciding game of the world series. ill honestly be disappointed if its not AP, if the jock thats a joke, the horse ran better as the races went along. his derby was slow, his preakness was slow on speed figures but i thought he ran a race, today he just crushed, AP is the athlete of the year and rightfully so!

Some people consider the horses as athletes. Don't they?

Don`t be surprised if he wins Athlete of the year.....Matter of fact.....I say yes.

I love this argument. In any sport. As if the team or horse that wins has a choice in who they play. Doesn't matter how you get you're name on the trophy....

What I wouldn't give to have been there. Had the volume cranked over stereo and crowd was in a frenzy...circumstances would not allow me there today though

it was a great scene at the Westgate.... even money on AP if you bet the prop of winning the Triple Crown instead of walking up to the window and betting the race
