I am happy to announce that Skybook Sportsbook (www.skybook.com) has agreed to sponser The Rx. NBA BEST BET Thread. Starting today all BEST BETS will be monitored for consectutive winners, and posters posting winning selections on multiple consectutive days will be able to win any of the free accounts listed below.

Prize Breakdown

5 winning days in a row: $25.00 deposited to betting account with a 2x rollover

6 winning days in a row: $50.00 deposited to betting account with a 2x rollover

7 winning days in a row: $100.00 deposited to betting account with a 3x rollover

8 winning days in a row: $250.00 deposited to betting account with a 4x rollover

9 winning days in a row: $500.00 deposited to betting account with a 5x rollover

10 winning days in a row: $1,000.00 deposited to betting account with a 6x rollover.

Now I would like to list the contest rules:

1. The contest is for NBA plays only. For contest purposes players will have to use Skybook Sportsbook NBA lines that will be posted at the top of the daily NBA Best Bet thread. Only entire game, side or total selections will be accepted for contest purposes.

2. Anyone who is a registered Rx. Poster for at least 30 days is eligible to play. No accounts, or posts ups are necessary. Naturally winners will have to register at Skybook Sportsbook to make use of their winnings.

3. The contest will run through the NBA Regular season.

4. After hitting 5 in a row, players have the option of taking the $25 prize OR risking it all to go on for the next available prize.

5. As soon as someone WINS, (either hits 10 in a row, or takes one of the lower amounts) the contest starts over for everyone. All contestants revert to zero consectutive wins.

6. If 2 or more people are on a different streak (one with 5 and one with 6 for example) at the same time, only the higher winner has the option to take the winnings and start the game over. The player in second place needs to contiue play until he either takes the lead, or start over if the leader ends the round.

7. If two or more players are playing on the same streak, as soon as one of the players chooses to take the winnings, the person choosing to not go further will receive half of the prize amount, and the contest continues.

8. As soon a player loses that player may start over the next day. Even after a loss you are not eliminated from the current contest segment.

9. When a player goes for the 10th or highest prize, the contest either ends if that player wins, or continues if the player loses. In the event two contestants accrue 10 wins simultaneously, contestants will advance to additional rounds until one is eliminated and a winner is declared, or the contestants can call a draw, and split the $1000 account.
The contest starts over for all other participants when a contestant reaches 10 consecutive wins.

10. You must post a play everyday during a winning streak. (except if there are no games scheduled). You may start at zero consectutive wins at any time.

12. No editing allowed. When a posting error occurs feel free to contact myself, or any other mod in a separate thread. If possible we will make corrections that do not effect your actual selection.

13. Contestants are encouraged to keep track of consectutive winners and post number of consectutive wins with each new play. Natrually I will be keeping records also.

14. In the event of duplicate selections in situations where the contest can be ended by two or more contestants, the earliest posted duplicate play will get credit.

15. Any unforseen circumstances will be ruled on by Skybook Sportsbook management as they occur.

Please give www.skybook.com a vist and show our support.

Thanks to all, Wilheim

Sounds like a great contest except that I just hit 5 in a row and registered Jan13. Any chance of waiving the 30 day rule.

Zip32 that is just what I was thinking. For any posters who have ALREADY posted in the earlier non sponsered NBA BEST BET thread and are registered for less than 30 days the rule is waived. You have to have at least one BEST BET post in the old threads.

BTW. Any current streaks from the old threads unfortunately are not carried over to the new contest. Everyone is starting out at Zero consecutive wins.

Bjack - my main man, I was rooting for you the last few nights big time. Great job. I wish we could carry over, but I really need everyone to start on a level playing field with the same lines. Hope you understand.

Thanks Brendanjack, FWIW I will not be a contestant in this contest. Plenty to do just monitoring it.

Ok....here is my dumb question.....I don't think I see it exactly covered.

Let's say player A has 8 straight and player B has 5 straight. Player A (given first choice accordnig to Rule #6) wants to go for win #9....so then Player B (given the next choice I assume) decides to take the $25. Where does that leave Player A ?? If he gets anything less than the $250 he would have gotten by "punting," then Player A cost Player B a whole bunch of $$.

All that aside....MANY THANKS to Wilhelm and to Skybook for putting this together. I'm sure all the "rough edges" will smoothe themselves out.

lets cr oss that bridge if and when we come to it. Whatever the resolution, I feel confident from the dealings I have had with Skybook, any kind of unusual situations will be dealt with in the fairest way possible.

PS. For some reason Infopop will not let the word c**** print (cr oss)

Many thanks to Wilhelm for his work here.

A few comments I must act as the "mathematical genius" here for the sake of the many that will need it

1. No one will ever reach 10 before someone else reahes 5. WILL NOT OCCUR.

2. This thread's benefit is really for the ability to match plays together by seeing other top selections from other gamers. I also like the keeping track of streaks. Can help in "pro" of someones selection or to look at a possible "fade" of someones selection based on their streak. So in summary the contest is great to call it a contest, but the INFORMATION gathered is more benefit than the contest.

3. This is the most important NOTE by NEWPORT to all.

YOU WOULD BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST "LOSERS" OF MONEY IF YOU DID NOT PLAY THIS FORMAT WITH YOUR OWN MONEY "ALSO"

WHY YOU ASK, WHEN A CONTEST WILL REWARD ME FOR MY SUCCESS FOR FREE

THIS IS WHY
computer.gif

IF YOU BET 100 DOLLARS ON DAY ONE AND WON DAY 1 SELECTION YOU WOULD HAVE 200 DOLLARS. CORRECT, YES CORRECT

WELL THEN HERE IS WHAT YOU HAVE AFTER 5 DAYS

FIRST BET 100

DAY 2 BET 200 FOR 400
DAY 3 BET 400 FOR 800
DAY 4 BET 800 FOR 1600
DAY 5 BET 1600 FOR 3200

NOW IMAGINE YOU ACTUALLY DID POST 10 DAYS IN A ROW

DAY 6 BET 3200 FOR 6400
DAY 7 BET 6400 FOR 12,800
DAY 8 BET 12,800 FOR 25,600
DAY 9 BET 25,600 FOR 51, 200
DAY 10 BET 51,200 FOR 102,400

NOW WE ALL KNOW THAT ANYONE IN THE RIGHT MIND WOULD HAVE COLLECTED THEIR EARNINGS PRIOR

BUT PLEASE DO NOT GET "THRILLED WITH YOURSELF IF YOU DO THIS"

BECAUSE BY NOT ACTUALLY DOING IT.....IN THE BIG PICTURE YOU LOOK LIKE AN

DO THE MATH WITH 10 DOLLARS, IT STILL PAYS

OH AND BY THE WAY, DON'T THINK THAT THERE ARE NOT SOME SPENDERS OUT THERE THAT WILL BE WAGERING ON ALL OF US CONSECUTIVELY,

TAKES RESILLIANCE, BUT THIS IS THE BIGGER PICTURE OF THIS "GAME" THE PRIZES OFFERED ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO THE MONEY THAT CAN BE MADE IF MANY OF YOU HIT JUST 5 DAYS IN A ROW.

Some STRONG MATH intellect provided to you by the one and only NEWPORT

ummmm newport. you forget that math that says we are risking nothing to get something in return and also the math that said if you lost 5 in a row betting 100 a game you would be out -550

Ones wallet whether a 10 dollar bill or a 100 dollar bill.

I am just providing you the math before someone gets too enamored with what it could really mean. I unerstand you might spend some to get some, but the COMPOUNDING concept is what I needed to share.

Hope it helps. I think ALL should join in
