It kind of took me by surprise me when I saw Oregon was on top. But you have to keep in mind that Oregon had most everything given to them. $125 mil out of $196 mil of their revenues were contributions. So it's not like they had to fight their way to the top. Something tells me they won't stay there for long. I just saw that Under Armour was going to make a big offer to Texas. As if their uniforms weren't ugly enough already, just wait until UA gets a hold of them!

Look how much money the Athletic departments actually make. That is the bottom line. Texas is not even in the ballgame.

If you go to the USA Today link, you can actually click on the team and see the last few years. Oregon received almost 80 million more in contributions in 2014 from the previous year. That's one way of getting to the top. Nice to have a sugerdaddy.

It's funny that the net between #2 and #3 is almost 50%. The Big Oilies in Texas barely contributed more than OU. And OU jumped from 7th to 3rd in profit. They also compete better in rights and licensing than I would have thought. Some weird stuff going on here. I can kind of see why Texas program is so bloated and they see little profit. Bama received $25 million from "other areas." I wonder what "other" is? I know it's a lot more than the other schools got..I also thought it was a little funny that Bama got $6 million in school funds, yet another of the Bama state group had to shut it's doors on the football program...

His generosity is more than just athletics, he and his wife are set to give OHSU 500 million after already giving the Hospital 100+ million, they say the two are getting ready to announce a 1 billion dollar donation to Oregon Academics, if true that would be over 1.5 billion in donations to Oregon and that isn't even counting what he and his wife have already given to the Athletic Department.

I was going to post the same question about others. There is a methodology link at the bottom that says: Other: All other sources of revenue including game guarantees, support from third-parties guaranteed by the school such as TV income, housing allowances, camp income, etc.; tournament/bowl game revenues from conferences; endowments and investments; revenue from game programs, novelties, food or other concessions; and parking revenues and other sources.

Really, Alabama is in the black. No need for them to even take subsidies.

Don't get me wrong. I'd take it too.

Nebraska's got this fan floating around Omaha, but as far as I can tell (considering the measly 11 million in donations) he aint getting off much. He's only worth some 72 billion.

USC is a private school so they don't have to release figures, all the schools listed are public record.

Which is one of the reasons why this list is a sad joke.

Yeah, when you throw Notre Dame in there with USC, we're talking about two schools that have more money than Jerry's Kids...

Hey, he's only worth 1 billion. I'm starting to get a bit miffed at Buffett. We could have floating satellite facilities all over the south. 500 feet and above, ain't tresspassing!
