I know a lot of people with college degrees working jobs that high school graduates can get. I only have a semester left and could care less about graduating since I'm making way more than the average graduate would.

It's not a scam, it is very useful to get a college education.

The only people that think its a scam are morons that think its some free ticket to a high paying job.

Everyone gets a degree these days, its pretty much required, not something that makes you stand out.

MMMMM hmmmmm....I find it funny that is not REQUIRED for a high school student to take a personal finance class showing the cost of college compared to majors and job outlooks and salaries....But no all they PROMOTE is go to college if you want a good job.

Scam at ITS BEST.

Lot of idiots out in the world with degrees.

True. Hope I'm not one of them.

Depends what you want out of it. You don't need a degree to succeed, but the business contacts you make are priceless.

Go to a community college for 2 years and then switch to a state college and you can get a degree for under 20,000.

All depends on what you’re looking for in life. College is an easy way to an easy life. If you’re looking to follow in your parents foot step… a simple family with a simple existence, then college is your destiny. If you’re looking for more, then college may just be holding you back. Life teaches you harsher lessons, which tends to be a better teacher then the sheltered bearded short man teaching you how to read a map.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have 2 bachelor degrees and my boyfriend didn’t graduate high school…he makes more money then me and can get a job more easily…where’s the logic?

If you go to college for the right thing it is incredible what it can do for you. If you major in theater or something like that it might be a waste of money but if you go for engineering or some other professional job it is great. I went for Civil Engineering and have had great jobs since I graduated 7 years ago. I have always worked 8-4:30 and never any weekends. All of my friends/family who didn't go to college either work shift work, the night shift and work on weekends. People have been getting laid off all over the place this past year. I had a pretty good job but 6 months ago I got an even better job and had another company who really wanted to hire me.

As long as you go to college and major in the right thing it is a great move and college can be a lot of fun.

Jake's right, not hard to make $25-$30 an hour on sports writing if you got the gigs. Come football season I'm actually going to employ a small staff.

I have friends that are Chartered Accountants and make around $130,000 per year... last time I checked you can't become a CA with only a high school diploma

If you need anyone, you know where to look. I'm the small staff you're looking for. And... interview complete. @)

That is a great point. So many people major in something stupid and then complain college is pointless. You really have to research the major so you know exactly what jobs you can get with it, and also if addition years of school are require.

The best bargain in college today is nursing.

My girlfriend will have spent a total of just over 3 years in college & will have her RN (Registered Nurse) and making $40+ per hour.......

I believe the age old adage is appropriate here:

If you think Education is expensive...try ignorance.
