It would make this place a far more attractive place to "hang out", and therefore drive thread views and banner clicks.

The obvious downside is it would decrease threads. But I would think an maintaining an increased "online" user base would be more lucrative. No?

you guys dont' have to make a full blown chat room.. but like a tiny chat box kind of like sports interaction does for their book.. could be nice.

i agree 100% if you had a chatroom the rx would def get less posts but the activity overall would be through the roof. that was a lot of fun just shooting the shit in the derby auction

I agree it would be Cool. But I just don't think it's a good business model

We are the people. "We" are who the dollars are going after. So if WE think it's cool, then it IS a good business model. It's just a matter of how to monetize it.

Terrible model if you trying to generate posts and replies. I visit ONE site like that....very old school site with a very niche/narrow readership.

I almost always chat or PM the OP rather than post.

I good idea is to have a gameday live chat for big events....A few sites i visit use this very well.

I, for one, would come here to just "hang out" and "shoot the shit" while "watching a game" with these guys. I'm sure dozens agree.

So at that point you're basically hosting a chat room full of gamblers. So what? That's a good thing for advertisers, right? If that room gets traffic, then those banners get clicks, and the advertising revenue comes in.

I don't get the problem.
