Russia needs a little boost of nationality amongst it citizens and thumbing it's nose to the U.S. while the U.S. does nothing makes them feel good and forget about all the internal problems going on right now. All pre-planned and pre-calculated. Think about it, you haven't heard a peep out of Russia for a long while now saying that if U.S. bombs Iran that it will be there to defend Iran. They, if anything, would love a Iran conflict to drive up oil prices. Money Money Money. Let them have Georgia. Georgia is really part of Russia anyways in many aspects. No Big Deal.
If Israel bombs Iran, the US should bomb Israel. Israel bombing Iran will kill our economy, oil will be $200 a barrel, gas here will be $6 or $7 a gal, food prices sky rocket, everything goes up.

The whole situation is very ironic. Gorbachev presided over the callapse and disentagration of the Land of the Czars partially because of the great American economy during the Reagan years. After that we became the worlds only superpower.
Now with us transferring an estimated 700 billion to the oil rich nations each year & the Russians new found wealth and more astute leadership the tables may be turning.
If the Russians aggressively continue to drill in every nook and cranny of their vast lands and with the possibilty of an Obama victory coupled with
Pelosi & Reed distaste for oil exploration I'd say in the near future the tables will forever turn in the wrong direction.

well said romanowski. russia and china don't give a shit about iran. they are nothing more than a client for them to sell defense products (most of which are probably outdated). if anything behind closed doors they would applaud their bombing. i doubt they want iran to actually have a bomb otherwise they'd sell them a couple dozen.

I'm just appluading Wall Street for not getting in such a panic over this stupid crap and driving up oil. Oil keeps going down. These chess moves by Russia has greatly underestimated the will of the American people. The American people have changed thier consumption habits by quite a bit in a short period of time. I think we are ready to take on Iran and still maintain a drop in oil prices. The world thought financially they didn't need the U.S. economy but they are finding out alarmingly quickly they do.

the money economic political influence of russia in ossetia was growing they were tied to russia, russia gave them passports etc...was already on a path of georgia slowly losing it
