Well kinda...He's the new offensive coordinator for Iowa State if you haven't heard. HUGE hire for the Clones. As a result, the city of Ames has just voted to build a new Golden Corral and two new BBQ joints.

Actually, this hire has me more worried than the Charlie Strong hire...

My guess is it was those extra thick Iowa pork chops that lured him in

it's a nice get for Paul Rhoads who's a very solid and underrated coach.

I will see if my contact (in Ohio) has an update on his current-weight status. You may recall, I ran a monthly weigh-in report on Mangino when it was announced he was going to try and break the 400 lb barrier prior to the beginning of last season with his weight-loss campaign (he did get into the 375/390 range than stalled). It will be interesting to see if he stayed in the svelte 375 lb range or ballooned back to the 475 to 480 range again.......I hope so, but, now Iowa........ouch.

My guess the strategy is for him to lure-away those 350 lb (plus) Iowa farm-boy recruits away from the Hawkeyes....Mangino's weight and size will impress the parents.

I heard he was banned from all Golden Corals.......Ames must have issued a "special exception" prior to granting a building permit.

I heard he's lost around 130 pounds. Or about the equivalent of throwing a lawn chair off of the Titanic.

I like your style "Sooner" and ........your handicapping skills....it'll be late-August before we know-it. Hang in there.

FYI: I will try to get an up-date from a contact/friend who lives in Steubenville that followed Mangino's weight-related issues when in Youngstown.
One thing is certain, those offensive & defensive linemen at Iowa State won't give him (Mangino) any horsesh*t.

I hope Mangino keeps losing the LB's. You don't see many old fat people walking around. Maybe he can at least get down to a svelte 300 pounds. I just want to see if he has a neck.

With the size of his girth...he has to have his waist-belts tailor-made.....They don't sell them that big in Wal-Mart.
His neck ? Not sure he as one.....Can you imagine what he has to go through to put on a shirt and tie when he attends a wedding or a funeral.
