It didn't matter what happened the year before. That's irrelevant. The Yankees were hot with their ACE in Fried and Dodgers were meh going into Friday nights game with a bottom of the rotation starter in Gonsolin. Yankees also had a slightly better record. Odds and points spreads are based on most recent performances. Don't you know?? Who's your team BTW? You bleeding Dodger blue?
In all due respect, I am not a Dodger fan at all and have been a diehard Red Sox fan since
1952 at age 8.
I don't agree with you at all about the result of the WS having no bearing sometimes
on a given game the next year especially when there were no more games played until now between the two teams,
and the Dodger in spite of playing so-so of late, showed their mettle last season in the WS against this team.
I also stand by what I said in regard to a good player being out of lineup, and this applies to all sports and is based on my
own experience, namely rushing to the window to bet against a team for the first game a player is out, and the line had been
adjusted, is AT BEST a 50-50 prop.
I say this for many reasons, such as the team with injured player many times will play harder, including sometimes the player
who replaces the injured player as well as the fact (and sorry if you don't agree), the opposing team may NOT
be as motivated and/or believe they have an easy W.
If the player is out for an extended period of time, it is a different story, but for one game only in a baseball game, imo it means
really little!!
For me, at BEST the game in question rated a pick 'em no matter who is pitching for the Yankees.
If the game was being played in New York, then Yankees -135 or -140 tops!!
For me, and to be blunt, the Yankees in that game were a false favorite!!
I use the same logic in the stock market, namely buying when there is value in buying it, meaning usually it has come down in price too \
much to what it was before it dropped, and selling when it is overvalued.
That's it-I am not going to debate it, and most importantly, I don't want it to cause any ill feeling or bitterness as we have always been on a
good terms and agreement about Lang, who is the main topic of conversation here!!
