Jimmy you have hit the nail on the head...I was about to say the exact same thing...there is no loyalty, and the way I justify it is just as you put it...our teams do not care one bit who we root for, the players will be gone next year to the highest bidder see Pedro Martinez (and who can blame them for the most part)

Sports has changed, if you grew up before 1980 you are damn lucky to have been around when sports figures were truly tied to their hometown teams, and there was a real passion for your team....we have lost that aspect forever.

I grew up in the era of free agency so have always had to deal with who is coming and going!

So true..But I think were still spoiled but in different ways, the internet, ESPN, MLB.Com, NFL Ticket, games almost every night to have a real interest in, we can make money not leaving the house, WHO WOULD HAVE EVER IMAGINES THAT?

Its all really incredible when you think back to say 1975 watching your favorite team, counting down the days to the 'magic number'...and how its all evolved to this, even talking to sports fans and gamblers daily on this forum, rather remarkable!

We've just learned or evolved into different ways to get the same kind of thrills:103631605

I have no problem betting against my favorite team. It's a win-win situation. My team wins, hey that's great! My team loses, hey, I just won some dough! Team loyalty was way more important to me when I was in grade school than now.

Yea, but it also a lose-lose situation. Your team wins, you lose money. If you win money, then your team loses.

I can't ever bet against my teams. Like SCnit said, I enjoy rooting for my favorite team more than winning a wager. And if I have wagered against my team, I find it difficult to watch the game. I want to root for my team, but I have my wager in the back of my head.

If I wager $300 against the Red Sox, and it's a tied game and I don't know who to cheer for, I ask myself if the win is worth $630 to me.

It never is.

If the Red Sox lost 162 games and gave me $630 for each loss, I would take it.

Simply cannot bet Angels in this game. No rest and flying all over the country the past few days. That rain day killed them, and rather than do the sporting thing and give them a day TV rules the schedule and since it is scheduled they play, especially after they had to show Escape From LA for the millionth time when they got rained out on Saturday.

I do think the Angels will be OK in game two, just needa day to catch up with al the travel. Don't be surprised to see Byrd get absolutley lit up to night with no relief. That would be my angle. Just because Scossia satguys last night doesn't mean he will throw them out thwere tonight.

He definately is not the type of guy to sweat losing game one, they do it every series. So him having this as a throw away game is no great stretch. Probably why he is throwing Byrd out there.

He is a big picture guy. They give this one away, try to get game two, get their days off (however the travel schedule runs), and go from there. He is looking to win the series, not game one.

I still think its unfair they can't have a day off between series...haven't they earned that much? stupid rule!

Also when the WS starts, teams do get a few days break why is this any different , give them one day off between series.

I say the opposite. The Angels win game 1 on the energy from the LDS, and relax in game 2 and lay an egg.

And how many times do we see a 2-1 favorite , the game starts and you realize 'oh shit this game is dead even' anyone can win it...think about that in the 4th inning when the game is tight tonight.

Adrenaline only carries you so far before actual fatigue sets in.

If anything that win last night probably drained them more. Like being in a street fight and kicking the shit out of the biggest guy, now you have to take on his smart assed buddy that started the fight in the first place. You feel great for taking out the muscle, but all of a sudden you get sucker puched by the skinny punk, are toatally drained, and don't have a lot left in the tank.

The white Sox line is way too high but I see it more as a don't bet game. I think the Sox will win but I am not laying that much would to find out. u8.5 is the better bet.

No.

You have the fight and you're exhausted - but you know the guys' kid brother is coming to get even with you, so you're on the alert.

Then you beat up the kid brother (Game I ALCS), and when he is holding his balls and running away, you get some rest (rest day). Then you are strolling the streets like you own it and the kid's grandma hits you in the head (Game II) with the bathroom plunger - your head hurts and you have someone's shit all over your face.

I like the UNDER in Game 2 - regardless of what the line is.

The Angels will now relax, lose focus and fall asleep during BP tomorrow. The White Sox, on the other hand, can't beat lefties.

I suck. Worst case for me. Now I have to sit on my Angels tickets, unless I get something decent to bet if they lose Game 2.

But not only did Angels take out themuscle and the skinny brother, they slapped the drunk girlfriend across the face for good measure.

But then again if you told me they were only going to score 3 runs I would still have picked the White Sox.

They looked tired, and definately played tired late. The thing is CWS looked even more tired than they did. BAseball is a difficult sport to handicap that is for sure. That is why you want to take all the free money you can in sclaps and arbitrages.

I obviously would never bet against them, but I didn't bet on them this game eihter. Nor did I take the so-so odds for the series. Hopefully CWS win tomorrow, and I can get back up to +150 again on the Angels.

No shame in having the guy's wife beat you up, I call them sucker punches too....:103631605
