President Donald Trump will begin rolling out executive actions on immigration Wednesday, beginning with steps to tighten border security - including his proposed wall along the US-Mexico border - and other domestic immigration enforcement measures that will include temporarily barring immigration from Muslim countries whose citizens could pose a terrorist threat.
The president posted a tweet on Tuesday evening signaling that major announcements were in the offing.
'Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow,' Trump tweeted.
'Among many other things, we will build the wall!'
The new Trump directives will reportedly restrict immigration from Syria and six other Middle Eastern or African countries, according to several congressional aides and immigration experts briefed on the matter.
In addition to Syria, Trump's orders are expected to temporarily restrict access to the United States for most refugees.
Another order will block visas from being issued to citizens of Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, said the aides and experts, who asked not to be identified.
