As a postscript, someone posted yesterday that 61% of the public was on the Giants last night. Just because they Giants won and covered easily doesn't mean that being a contrarian is an invalid concept, nor does it mean that the ticket to winning at sports betting is to follow the public. Anything can happen on a single day's games--its what statisticians refer to as a "insignificant sample size". Over the long haul, however, things like "public" teams dominating and favorites sweeping the board in the NHL even out and in these cases likely trend longterm the other way. Keep your eye on the big picture, not the events of one game or one day...
