Seriously, does anyone think they can beat this sport?

If so, why? Do you think you can cap better than the bookmakers? Think you know something they don't know? Or is it just about getting a good number? And if that's the case, how do you know you're getting a good number when you bet it? Is it about predicting line moves?

I bet the Pats Monday night because I felt like gambling. Nothing wrong with a little gambling now and then. Is that the case for everyone else? Or are there really NFL winners on this forum?

Illini,

The faster you realize that Peyton, Ely, Shitberger, are mediocre at best, the faster you learn to not eat chalk, and Wade Phillips is a moron the better off you will be. NFL is easy if you know what your doing.

A/The profitable angle is to bet unders in the NFL, can be totals, prop/yards, team totals, much better odds than rolling a dice. I'll hardly bet an over. Why would someone play randy moss over 78yds in a game? How do you know? Why hope and pray for a defensive teams TD or 45 yard bomb to get the over?

I have to feel that I "know" something before I ever make a wager in the NFL, and that is few and far between. Except for messing around with the #3, I spend Sunday getting ready for the openers in college football or reading my Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook.

Props? Yes.

Sides and Totals? No.

I like this message on the props as a way to find positive expectation wagers.

but also sides and totals with low vig the key, slow moving books, line shopping there is some profits to be made long term even in the brutal hard NFL but its a grind.

need to take it on a game by game/week by week basis. What seems likely this week would have seemed improbably 3 or 4 weeks ago, adjustments are the key.

Heres my basic strategy for betting the NFL that seems to work decent.

1. Bet underdogs on the point spread that you think will win outright.

2. Bet big underdogs on the point spread vs defencive teams

3. If you bet a favorite dont take high numbers, I dont like going over -3 very offten.

4. Try not to bet favorites on the road.

I always found if you play one game at a time you increase your odds.

Easier said than done as kid in candy store syndrome.

My best weeks are when I'm up for the week and then pound the Sunday night game.
