Those pictures definitely do NOT do these girls/women justice! Last night the women were awesome! Even better than watching the Suns and I had them on the money line! I was rooting for Miss Peru! I've not posted in this thread because I've posted in the other threads about it. Also, beauty pageants don't have the same appeal for me that they do for the guys. Falls under the 'who gives a crap' label for me.
I do not view it as a meat market soft porn exibition. I view it as choosing an ambassador for the universe. Hey, I truly respect these women. Especially the eventual winner. They have a very short leash for the entire year. Say the right thing, look the right way, be engaging, and politically correct. Plus they are now encouraged to do humanitarian work, as Miss Australia and the Aids work. I envy her opportunity to actually make a difference in many people's lives. But not the standards she must conform to. Very tough gig and I doubt I could do it even if you packaged FROG in a beauty queen body. These ladies are using what gift they have, beauty, like an athlete would compete in sports. But to be honest, would I be interested if it were men? Xpanda has me there. No thanks.

I don't think beauty pageants are degrading, though I do find them rather pointless and of little major value. But then, so is football, and I love that.
You know my brand of feminism only means that women should be able to do whatever they want. To the women who want to be in pageants and who do well, Congrats! They're just not of any real interest to me, is all.
